Petition Tag - world heritage site
1. Make DHOLAVIRA a World Heritage site
DholaVira in Kutch India is the site of ancient Harrappan Civilisation which was excavated in 1989.
This the cradle of Human Civilisation. It is estimated to be more than 5000 years old.
2. Commend the Magellan's Cross as a World Heritage Site
The Magellan's Cross is located in Cebu City, in the Republic of the Philippines.
On April 21, 1521, Portuguese and Spanish explorers, upon orders by Ferdinand Magellan, planted this beautiful artifact of Christianity (specifically Roman Catholicism) in the Philippines.
3. Save the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site!
In 2005 Unesco approved the citation of the Vredefort Dome as a World Heritage Site (WHS), and the SA government undertook to formally recognise and regulate the area. The Dome is at the centre of the oldest and largest visible meteorite impact site on earth. We need to petition government to go forward with the WHS as planned.
As many people as possible should sign this petition to prove that there is overwhelming public support for conservation, the protection of heritage, and sensible economic development for the benefit of all.
Notwithstanding the ramifications that such action will inevitably have, the British Government should, at least as a gesture of good will, negotiate the eventual return of the "Elgin Marbles" to Greece for display with other artifacts relating to Greek heritage at this (the Acropolis) important World Heritage Site.
