As a law abiding P plater, I have found that when P plates are displayed, many drivers (including those with Open licenses) behave in a completely unsafe and inappropriate way around P Platers on the road.
Such behaviour includes: Tailgating, engine revving, overtaking at high speeds (near misses often a result), provocative behaviours (in attempts to start an illegal street race). Drivers will also not allow P platers to merge in multi-lane situations.
Having travelled with drivers who are holders of Provisional, Probationary and Open licenses, I have found that many drivers have pre-conceived ideas (most likely stemming from various media reports) about what kind of drivers P platers are. Unfortunately a few people have created a reputation for everyone else with the same licence type.
It has become really unsafe to drive as a RECOGNISED P plater.
This is NOT a proposal to change the licensing system (or the various restrictions) in place in Queensland, but one that requests that P plates DO NOT have to be displayed whilst driving. The various restrictions would still apply, and licenses would still show each persons licensing level.
It would still be acceptable for repeat offenders to have to display P plates (especially those who are place on their Green P's after coming off a suspended license).
Baner Tywysogaeth Gwynedd oedd baner y Pedwar Llew yn wreiddiol ond yn dilyn cwymp y Dywysogaeth yn 1283, mabwysiadwyd y faner, yn wreiddiol, gan Owain Llaw Goch ac yna gan Owain Glyndŵr. Roedd y ddau yn ddisgynyddion i dywysogion Gwynedd gyda'r hawl i fabwysiadu'r faner. Newidiwyd y llewod i fod yn rhai 'rampiant' gan Owain Llaw Goch ac yna defnyddiwyd y fersiwn yna o'r faner gan Owain Glyndŵr yn ystod ei Rhyfel fawr Dros Annibyniaeth.
O dan y faner yma bu Cymru'n annibynnol o tua 1403 hyd at tua 1410 a gan mai baner Harri Tudur oedd un y ddraig goch ar gefndir gwyrdd a gwyn, wedi ei hatgyfodi yn 1958, rydym, fel gwladgarwyr, ond yn cydnabod baner y Pedwar Llew Rampiant fel gwir faner genedlaethol Cymru a gan fod cynlluniau ar y gweill gan David Cameron a Llywodraeth Lloegr i osod Jac yr Undeb ar drwyddedau gyrru ym Mhrydain, rydym yn mynnu ein hawliau dinesig i gael Pedwar Llew Rampiant Tywysog Owain Glyndŵr ar drwyddedau gyrru yng Nghymru.
The Four Lions Rampant was, originally, the Four Lions Passive flag of The Royal House of Gwynedd in Snowdonia, North Wales. Following the fall of the Royal House of Gwynedd, it was adoped by the rightful heir, the great warrior Prince, Owain Glyndŵr during his war of Independence 1400 - 1421ish and the 'passive lions' were changed into 'rampant lions' to illustrate that the Cymru (Welsh) were up in arms.
Under this flag, Cymru (Wales) was independent between 1403 - 1410ish and, as the red dragon on a green and white background was the standard of Henry Tudor King of England and was only resurrected in 1958, we as Welsh patriots only recognise the Four Lions Rampant as the true flag of Cymru and as plans are being drawn up by David Cameron to have the Union flag or Crest to appear on "British" driving licences, we demand our civil right to have the Four Lion Rampant flag of the Cymric people's Prince, Prince Owain Glyndŵr on Cymric (Welsh) driving licences.
In NSW Australia many people own vehicles which are very seldom used yet there is no system for reduced registration costs.
The majority of the rego cost is insurance which is related to Risk which is obviously reduced when usage is limited so there should be some allowance for this.
Please see extended explanation HERE.
We, the undersigned, petition Hackney Council to change Controlled Parking Zones policies throughout Hackney to benefit local business and residents.
Whereas, Havens Road is a two way road half of the way down. It presents a significant hazard to anyone travelling by vehicle on the road when having to go to a one vehicle road.
The large hazard is a sharp curve you cannot see around. When it rains it washes the road into in places. The constant regrading of the road produces delays and dangerous conditions for anyone traveling on Havens Road.
Whereas the constant regrading has been progressively less effective with every rain. Limestone and dirt has to be brought in to build the roadway back up. And ditches to be cleaned out. The town is incurring unnecessary expenses due to constant regrading and etc.
We the undersigned, respectfully request that the unpaved road immediately be properly prepared for paving and then paved as soon as possible. And to include repair or make ditches to accommodate the flooding of the road.
Speeding in residential areas is one of the most common sources of citizen complaints to the police. Yet because speeding must compete with other problems for police attention, problems that may appear far more serious, the police often do not devote a lot of resources to it.
Speeding in residential areas causes five basic types of harm:
- it makes citizens fear for children's safety
- it makes pedestrians and bicyclists fear for their safety
- it increases the risk of vehicle crashes
-it increases the seriousness of injuries to other drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists struck by a vehicle
-it increases noise from engine acceleration and tire friction.
Did you know that the Police in Ontario, Canada have the power to impound your vehicle and suspend your license without any form of appeal process? This in turn will raise your insurance rates, cause you to pay fees to reinstate your license, cause you to pay fees to recover your vehicle from the impound lot (and don't forget the towing of your vehicle there!) and possibly cause you credit and employment problems in the future. Yes, it's true!
All of this because there is no court date, no appeal and no due process for many offences under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario! It's your word against the Police. You have NO rights! This quote is taken directly from the Highway Traffic Act:
"No appeal or hearing
(9) There is no appeal from, or right to be heard before, the suspension of a driver’s licence..."
How is this possible? Where do we live? Read the Act for yourself, you may just be surprised in what you find out. Many acts have been amended and changed in the last year that revoke many of your rights as a citizen of Canada (or Ontario?).
Please sign our petition! Show solidarity that we won't stand for these amendments in a free country where we're supposed to have rights!
Effective June 20, 2009 the fare to ride public transportation in New York City will rise to $2.25. While this is less than the projected fare hike, it is still too much for New Yorkers to pay.
The debt that prompted the M.T.A to raise their fares, was incurred by the M.T.A as a result of borrowing money when the State did not Approve the new budget. The fault clearly lies between the M.T.A. And the New York State Senate.
Due to a recent incident at the beginning of May I am undertaking the task of raising this Petition against El Chapparal Golf.
In May a friend of mine had her vehicle parked all day in Las Adelfas. When she returned to her vehicle she found that her window had been smashed with a golf ball. Also, there have been in the past other incidences were golf balls have narrowly missed residential properties and also dented other cars that are parked in Las Adelfas.
The City of Los Angeles tried to implement an OPD in Venice, CA. Residents appealed this decision to the Coastal Commission.
An OPD or Overnight Parking District is a special permit parking zone regulated by parking enforcement during the hours between 2AM and 6AM. Residents must pay to obtain a permit.
Anyone that needs to use a public street to park a vehicle between 2AM and 6AM is impacted by Overnight Parking Districts.
Low income individuals and families in Venice, CA would be unduly burdened.
On October 1st, 2006 the Texas Legislature voted in a presumptive tax for used motor vehicles Purchased and or registered in Texas. (Added by Acts 2006, 79th Leg., 3rd C.S., ch. 6, § 3, eff. Oct. 1,
For example, this means that if you buy a vehicle for $1000, but the State says 80% of the value of this vehicle is $3000 (presumptive value), you will pay 6.25% of of $3000, as opposed to 6.25% of what you actually paid, which is $1000.
After visiting the Penndot Drivers License Center in Coudersport PA on two occasions I witnessed and experienced rude behavior by the employees at this location.
These people are suppose to be serving the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the community mentioned. After talking with several people in the community I am now aware that these acts are not specific to my experiences and it seems that this is the way that these particular PENNDOT employees conduct there services to the community and the people of the commonwealth.
I would like to put forward a petition against the transportation of dogs in the back of utility vehicles, as I believe it to be cruel and dangerous for the dog.
Too many times have I seen the remains of a family pet splattered on the highway, and even (in a few instances) hanging from a rope at the back of a ute (in these instances the dog has obviously tried to jump out and the rope has been just that little bit too long).
I believe that dogs SHOULD NOT be transported in the tray of a ute (or other open vehicle) unless they are confined in a secure cage or box, which is secured to the floor of the ute tray.
Despite the Canadian dollar achieving parity with the American dollar, the prices of new automobiles in Canada are still 10 to 25% more.
In the early 2000’s when the Canadian dollar was at an all time low, the industry changed their prices quickly, but now that within the last 2-4 years, the Canadian dollar has been strong, the industry is slow to change their prices.
Currently there is a 2 way stop at the corner of 304th St and 170th Ave. There are accidently almost daily at that corner because no obeys the stop sign.
On May 10, 2007 a driver passed the stop sign and neglected to stop. The driver hit another car and that car lost control of the vechile which ended up hitting my house. Luckily no one was injured but my home was seriously damamged in the accident.
As a homeowner and tax payer I am feed up with all of the accidents on this corner. Something needs to be done about this before someone gets seriously injured.
Over the last 30 years we have all been parking angled in the vicinity of our coinciding homes, we have never had a dilemma with parking over the years. Our neighbourhood (cal-de-sac) has encountered an issue, the city of edmonton and a plaintiff have enoforced that we must abide by the law that of Bylaw No.5590 (621,622) all subsections. Bylaw No.5590 (621,622) states that:
PARALLEL PARKING (1) When parking a vehicle on a roadway, a person may only park a vehicle
(i) the sides of the vehicle parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway, and
(ii) the right wheels of the vehicle not more than 500 millimetres from the right curb or edge of the roadway,
(b) in the case of a one-way highway where parking on either side is permitted, with
(i) the sides of the vehicle parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway,
(ii) the wheels that are the closest to a curb or edge of the roadway not more than 500 millimetres from that curb or edge, and
(iii) the vehicle facing in the direction of travel authorized for the highway.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), a person may park a motor cycle
(a) at an angle, other than perpendicular, to the curb or edge of the roadway, and
(i) a wheel of the motor cycle not more than 500 millimetres from the curb or edge of the roadway, and
(ii) the motor cycle angled in the direction of travel authorized for the traffic lane that is adjacent to the lane on which the motor cycle is parked.
(3) Subsection (1) does not apply where angle parking is permitted or required.
A person can be imprisoned for a period of time and be released early due to parole but a person who is disqualified from driving a vehicle dose not have this option regardless that it may be a much less serious offense.
If a person who has lost their license or driven whilst disqualified, and has not re-offended after a period of time, they should have the option to reduce their disqualification period and/or be able to obtain a restricted work license.
People make mistakes and people change and I believe that my submission is fair and just.
On Friday December 8, 2006, a Midlakes senior was killed in a fatal car accident. The student, a new driver, lost control of the vehicle and went across the median.
She was then struck by an on coming vehicle going 55 mph. If the vehicle that struck her was going 30 mph or less, the life of that student could have been saved.

We, the undersigned request a review and re-design of the current speed bumps placed at the entrance to City Park car park.
This is due to numerous complaints of cumulative motor vehicle damage.

This winter the roads all over Ottawa have suffered from the continuous freeze and thaw. All minor roadways have developed potholes, uneven pavement and bumps to varying degrees.
The 8Th Line Road Over the last few winters has deteriorated and has received no repairs. This roadway has become a major thruway for vehicles of all sizes between Highway 31 (Bank Street) and the East End of the Urban section of Ottawa.
In 1970's it was a seldom used dirt road. Then it was paved with little preparation work. The road has little or no shoulders which can create driving problems.
The following three sections have been an ongoing problem and should be repaired. Repairs not just signage is the answer.
At intersection where Pana Road meets the 8Th Line there are two major bumps, in secession, which will cause a vehicle to become airborne at the posted speed limit. It's dangerous enough with a car let alone a large truck. It's a matter of time before someone leaves the road and gets injured or worse yet hits an oncoming vehicle.
Also around the 2400 section, on the southbound lane there's a long, wide and deep rut that is extremely hazardous. This may cause a vehicle to lose control trying to avoid it.
There is also a series of ruts in the northbound lane, north of Rodney farm Road that again is hazardous. It has in the past contributed to accidents in combination to with drifting snow.

How many of you know someone who has lost a baby or child in a vehicle accident because they were not buckled up in a car seat or with a safety belt? How many people do you know that allow their kids to stand in the car?
How many of you have SEEN what it looks like when a child has gone through a windscreen, if you have - you know you never want to ever again! Let's give children the right to live a whole life..
People have got so accustomed to the luxury of driving their (safe) cars, that they have become less aware of their own safety by driving continuously faster & more recklessly. They might be able to afford a speeding or reckless driving fines but what none of us can afford is the huge loss of childrens' lives which have occurred over many years. Children are allowed to stand on the back seat (sometimes even on the front seat!), they are not harnassed in in any way - should the driver have to apply brakes - which happens all the times - the child will either go through the windscreen & be killed or be very seriously injured / killed in the vehicle itself.
Please read this and forward it on, YOU could save a child's life TODAY!

As per the current town code, signs are posted on residenial streets allowing "no parking" or "one hour parking" only, whereas, discouraging residents to report a strange car to the police for fear of being ticketed themselves or causing that part of the street's resident vehicles to be ticketed even though we as residents live here and have full right to be here.
Residents' vehicles of Surf are being, or can be ticketed for parking past one hour on the street in front of their residence.
The ordinance should allow resident vehicles to be distinguished from visiting vehicles by means of an identifying sticker on the windshield which can be purchased for a one-time nominal fee at our city hall.
For Newland communties to put up a wall between I-75 and our homes. The purpose of this, is to prevent an out of control commercial vehicle or private vehicle from landing in our back yards.
We are demanding that Verizon remove the utility box that they recently installed on a utility pole on the corner of Pine St. & Congers Rd. The continual presence of several utility trucks servicing this box and the already existing existy telephone utility box is creating a safety hazard for our children and a traffic hazard for all resident s who use Pine Street to access tgeur home.
We understand the nessecity of this new improvement, but feel a better and much safer place for this utility box would be elsewhere other than the corner of Pine Street and Congers Rd. This corner is already a bad corner for vehicle traffic. The island opposite Pine St. on the southeast side of Congers Rd. would be a much more safer placement for this utility box. Safer for our children, residential traffic and safer for Verizon workers.
We lost our 12 year old daughter Hayley in a car crash on 16th March 2003. Hayley was a passenger in a vehicle and was on her way home when the accident happened. It seems that a blue peugeot 406 was driving erratically at around 80mph up the centre of the road overtaking and undertaking traffic causing it to swerve and brake heavily.
The vehicle Hayley was in was forced to brake and went into a skid which threw them into oncoming traffic and fatally injuring her and seriously injuring 5 other people.
The peugeot having seen what had happened and avoiding being involved in the collision itself stopped some 100 ft away from the site of the crash and then drove off at speed. This vehicle has not yet been traced. The law allowed us one police officer to carry out investigations into the accident and to find the driver of the peugeot.
This is ridiculous as there were over 100 statements taken which took one officer months to complete. Had my daughter been killed on the street rather than in a car there would have been a whole team of detectives working on her death and finding her killer.
If this driver is found they will be charged with causing death by dangerous driving which carries a maximum of 14 years in prison but is usually dropped to a careless driving charge whereby the death of a person is not even taken into account and the sentence is usually just a fine and sometimes a driving ban of upto 3 years.
The law needs changing to ensure that the death of a person killed by dangerous driving is taken into account and treated as manslaughter when neccessary.
It is now 3 years since Hayley died and her killer is still out there free to kill again. We haven't heard a thing from the police in over 12 months which basically means that they have no further evidence to suggest who the guilty party is. If anyone knows a thing please get in touch with us or the police.
Re-hire Mrs. Rahila for Durham Elementary School Y.M.C.A. program. She was fired and falsely accused of transporting children in her vehicle. Also, accused of spending time with some of the children's parents after hours. Re-Hire Mrs. Rahila for the Y.M.C.A.
Sure their intentions are innocent. You turn 16, you get a car, and you get a system. What good is a car to a teenager if it doesn't have a stereo system? When he said "girls dig loud music" Devon spoke for most of the guys in Southern Illinois, cars & music = girls. Safety wouldn't be a concern though, would it? After all, it is only a stereo.
Unfortunately this stereo typically comes with large speakers and an amplifier, neither of which are bolted down. At an average weight of 20 pounds, this is similar to a toddler roaming freely in the vehicle. Safety should be of primary concern when teenagers are involved. Their lacking experience behind the wheel combined with loud music and unrestrained stereo equipment create disastrous consequences in the event of a collision.
Devon would have survived his impact, but he never stood a chance against the large airborne amplifier coming from the rear of the car.
Devon has been a best friend of mine for quite a few years. Over the years we have spent a lot of time together joking and laughing and just being good friends. He always knew how to make me smile, and I could always get a laugh out of him from one of my jokes. I cherish the memories that I have of Devon. With your help we can ensure that other kids won't needlessly lose their life before it has really begun.
In May 2003 SEVS will come into full effect, further regulating the importation of cars. At an informative conference hosted by DOTRS, it was openly stated that this new legislation was designed to discourage consumers and directly limit the number of vehicles imported. The creation of a closed vehicle market is a great disfavour to the People, and runs contrary to the Australian philosophy of international free trade.
AntiSEVS wishes to see the SEVS scheme re-evaluated and designed to complement Australia's local automobile market.
One thousand people die each each year from car accidents caused by people distracted on cell phones. Outlawing the use of handheld cell phones while driving would greatly reduce this number. THis law has already been passed in New York, so it would be wonderful if North Carolina could be the next state to pass such a law.
It is a violation of parental rights to not allow a mother or father to park their vehicle on the street and walk up to the doors of the school to pick their child up from a long day. We do not want to wait until 3:00 to pick our children up, which is when they dismiss walkers. We pick our children up at the door because we want to be right there when they walk out. That should be our prerogative. We should be allowed to pick them up at 2:45 when the car riders are dismissed. Why should we have to come up to the school at 2:10, thats 35 minutes before the bell rings to get a decent place in that long line of cars so our children don't have to stand in line for 15 to 20 minutes out in the heat or cold waiting for mom or dad to get up there to them while the line slowly moves along. We could be standing at the door when the car riders are dismissed @ 2:45, get our child, and get out of the way. I truely do not believe that mom's and dad's standing at the door and walking to the car holding the childs hand as they cross the street (where the crossing guard is) is causing a real big safety problem for the children. If anything, I believe it would be the opposite. Our children and his/her safety is our number one priority. We do not need such controlling people sitting around making up rules telling us how to maintain the safety of our children. Keeping our children safe at dismissal time is one of our greatest priorities. That's why we are more comfortable meeting them at the door and we should not be penalized 15 minutes for that.
