1. Consider Individuality in determining the legality of consensual Sex
The age of consent offers an abundance of protection to the world’s youth. However, certain aspects of what society means have been overlooked with this law; that is, individuality.
In order for the age of consent to be plausible in that applies to all persons, every individual would have to be of the same emotional, sexual, and intellectual maturity at the same age. Due to the prevalence of individuality in all of these facets, the age of consent can not be an equation of a certain age simply equalling said categories of maturity.
The remedy for this is to analyze each case regarding a violation of the age of consent and consider the individuals involved on a criterion of more than age. An under-aged person is not necessarily mature enough to consent to sexual activity with an adult, however, by the same token they are not necessary too immature to do so either.
People develop at various rates and it is therefore crucial to stop presumptuously entitling people who engage in sexual relationships with under-aged persons as predators or criminals. That is not to say these people do not exist, but rather to show that they do not exist in all cases.
Simply reaching the age of consent does not mean that a person is mature enough to consent to sexual activity, nor does not being the age of consent mean that one is not mature enough to consent to such activity. The purpose of this petition is not to lower the age of consent or abolish it by any means, but rather to change the law so it can permit the judicial system to look at the individuals in such cases as opposed to categorizing such relations as criminal because they fit one category. This category is age; it is the only factor of the individual being considered when such cases arise. All other facets of an individual are not allowed to be viewed in the law; maturity of the individual (be it sexual, emotional, or intellectual) is not of consideration despite its direct relevance.
It is for this reason that this petition is being proposed.
The law changes as society changes. Today, society is encouraging individuality as long as it does not harm another. Under the constitution, limiting one’s freedoms so they do not harm another is ‘reasonably justifiable’. However, it is not justifiable to simply assume that certain actions harm another based on age and age alone. The age of consent must not be a concrete determination of an individual’s maturity.
Therefore, this petition was created to reform the law into allowing people to analyze the individual and actually determine if such sexual engagements are in fact harmful.
2. Protect our children from access to explicit sexual material
Upon entering a general book store this afternoon I picked up a book not far from where the children's section were, after flicking through a few pages I was appalled to see such explicit sexual colorful pictures at eye sight view of children, where any child could have picked up the book to have an innocent glance and be exposed to such ADULT materials.
These pictures were so explicit of oral and anal sexual acts and of various sexual positions. To pour salt on the wounds it was in a section that stated "Family Health". We are constantly being bombarded of the dangers of the internet where children could get access to sexual and explicit materials and yet we allow such materials in open view in a general book store that sells children's books. I feel this is appalling and disgusting.
I have taken all the necessary precautions to avoid my son's view of these sort of materials via the internet and yet I cannot control that he could casually pick up a book from a general book store and be exposed to such explicit sexual materials. I feel that these books should at least be sealed or put out of child's view. We as parents should have the right to protect our children and what they are being exposed to.
We should feel comfortable to allow our children to visit a general book store and not have to worry as to what they could be looking at. I would expect to see these sort of material in an adult book store, not in a general book store that sell children's books, where children can enter freely and pick up any book from the shelf to look at.
3. Stop the TSA from sexually assaulting people
I do not agree with the TSA. I do want to be safe but i think touching private areas should be off-limits. Most people are taught when they are children that if someone touches you in bad places to tell an adult immediately. But with the TSA no one will listen.
Please, join me in stopping the TSA
4. Never Unseen
As a place of family entertainment, Chuck E. Cheese is often crowded, filled with tons of families on any given day. On the weekends, that capacity increases significantly. It is hard to keep a strong eye on the children in our party with such clutter, but the bigger problem lies in areas where our children cant help but be unseen. The Tunnel areas....These tunnels are often loads of fun and adventure as they lead down to what is usually the ultimate indoor slide, however, these tunnels are impossible for parents to observe their children. With this sight unseen, it is hard to prevent things from happening to our children while navigating to the slides.
On December 4, 2009, at the Glen Burnie location in Governor's plaza, my 4 year old son was sexually assaulted by two little girls, ages 8 and 9. In these tunnels, they kept him trapped, where they victimized and manipulated him. I couldn't stop what was happening when i couldn't see it happening. I learned of what happened when he finally got out of those tunnels to tell me of what happened.
5. Safer Community Against Registered SexOffenders (SCARS)
A loophole in the law allows for Registered Sex Offenders to volunteer in your child's class if he/she has a child enrolled in the classroom without you or staff from ever knowing and in another loophole a Registered Sex Offender's backyard can line up to a schools playground leaving your child at undue risk.
Registered Sex Offenders are not monitored tightly, fight to require stricter laws. Sign this petition to make a Safer Community Against Registered SexOffenders (SCARS) and prevent a lifetime of scars.
6. Child Sex Offender Protection: Ambertrax
Please send a copy of this on your letter head if available to your local Senator and Congressman and delete this sentence. 1/2
AMBERTRAX
REAUTHORIZATION PETITION
A blind spot exists in law enforcements ability to protect our school children / grandchildren from registered sex offenders, whose void is about to get much bigger unless confronted, assigned our symbiotic mandates and a federal oversight program and support is passed into law.
7. Justice for the victims of abuse suffered in State-run institutions
In Ireland in the 1940's over 35,000 children were condemned to live under a regime of physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect.
After 9 years and a cost 60 Million the Commission into Child Abuse report was issued which held accounts from 2,500 men and women who were abused in these schools and institutions.
But there has been no justice - we want prosecutions of all those who can be legally brought to justice for these crimes.
Please sign this petition to show the Government that the Irish people want more than a report - we demand justice on behalf of these victims.
8. Support the Child Protection Act of 2009
Creating a Special Commission to Review Legislation Impacting the Health and Welfare of Young People in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Preamble:
Whereas, laws affecting children and adolescents in the name of child protection have been passed episodically through the legislature over the past two hundred years¬¬—many of which are still in force, and in many respects too costly.
Since some of these statutes impacting the conditions in which our young people live and develop have been studied extensively by many experts, and found to be ambiguous, contradictory, antiquated, counterproductive, unconstitutional, or otherwise harmful to the health and welfare of young people in the Commonwealth, we believe it is necessary to carefully improve upon all laws impacting child development and maturation.
Considering that many of our statutes, in some measure, no longer serve the function of protecting the health and welfare of young people, nor promote their well being, it is the consensus of the vast majority of experts in child development and education that although statutes which attempt to create laws that better protect our young people’s health and welfare is indeed an important and compelling subject of thoughtful legislative action, it is crucial that the issues be carefully examined by specialized experts to implement consistency throughout our laws, regulations and policies.
Moreover, since we now have amassed over a century of experience with existing statutes and policies gathered by hospitals, psychologists, university professors, social workers, teachers, activists, psychiatrists, doctors, sociologists, child development specialists, politicians, parents, churches and many other individuals and institutions which act to serve the interests of young people, we now have access to more salient, complete and relevant data through expert studies and empirically determined observations as to what conditions are detrimental to our young people and which are helpful. We therefore find it prudent to reform the entire set of interlocking laws, regulations, rules, institutions, entitlements and policies which impact upon our young people, retire those statutes that do not work or cause harm to our youth, revise those statutes which can be transformed into positive contributions to the well being of our society in general, and frame new legislation to address problems not currently addressed by existing statutes or institutions to make the Commonwealth a place that does all in its power to promote the well being of our young.
We also believe that a more comprehensive approach to reviewing the existing context of laws influencing child development and maturation requires specialized consideration of all related areas, which therefore requires a large enough body of experts to competently examine which laws are harmful and to suggest the necessary reforms.
Be it proposed that the House of Representatives, Senate, and Governor review this legislation and deliberate in all due haste its implementation in order to reduce unnecessary harm being done to young people by laws which, while well intentioned themselves, are causing a economic burden to the Commonwealth and harm to the public safety, and to young people in particular, who are negatively impacted by their unintended consequences as a result of their misdirection—having been passed during times we were less familiar with the facts about child development and maturation.
The many state amendments forbidding same sex marriage will be overturned by the U S Supreme Court.
If one form of fornication is allowed, then those who practice all other forms of fornication will be demanding the same treatment. That would include adultery, incest, pedophilia, bestiality and polygamy, among others.
If one form of fornication is allowed and mainstreamed, then our public schools will begin to teach these behaviors as normal, and accepted by society, to our children, from kindergarten all the way through college.
To promote good sexual morals in the public square means to take a stand against all forms of fornication.
Fornication is any type of sexual intercourse outside of the marriage of one man to one woman.
In the book of Acts, Chapter 15 verses 19 and 20, we are told that all gentiles everywhere are commanded not to commit fornication. Yes, we are no longer under the Old Testament law of the Jews, but this commandment we received from the Holy Spirit and the Apostles after the death and resurrection of Christ, when we were already living in the age of grace, the Church age.
We are clearly told not to commit fornication.
Marriage is clearly defined in the Bible as a union of one man to one woman with God’s blessings on that union.
Fornication is defined as, “Sexual intercourse between partners who are not married to each other.” (The same definition in many dictionaries in the 1960s used the words “unmarried man and woman,” not partners.
God decides what is considered fornication, not man.
I have written a book entitled, "National Morality thinking outside the box a call to action volume 1." See chapters 21 and 22 for an interesting view on the power of subjective words in the English language).
(Go to: nationalmorality.net)
There are no Scriptural exceptions to this command in the Bible. We have not been given a blank check to do whatever we wish after we are saved.
The following proposed amendment will allow, in each state, the local political leadership by legislation and the local populations by referendum, to determine for themselves whatever public square sexual morals they expect. No authority anywhere will be able to overturn the will of the people in this matter.
Whether or not porn is a freedom of speech right would be decided on a state by state basis, as the amendment would allow each state's representatives to revisit the question and to make laws that the people want and to the degree of strictness that the people want.
It is time to prepare for the worse. The federal authorities will disappoint us again and overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Stand with me and give your local communities some clout. The states could then decide to make as many common moral laws as they can agree on, thus making as large an area in the US as possible, with the exact same moral conditions.
Please forward this petition to others after you sign it.
10. Immediately axe Troy Buswell as WA Liberal Party Leader!
Troy Buswell admitted to "sniffing the chair" of a female at a meeting. He was described as making sexual noises, and writhing around in mock pleasure after completing this humilating act in front of this female colleague and others.
He has previously snapped a bra of a female in a work environment.
His mysoginistic, disgusting behaviour towards women SHOULD NOT be tolerated. This is the man who MAY be elected to lead our state and be in charge of policy affecting women. He shows a lack of respect, complete immaturity, and deaming, sexualising behaviour towards women. How would he handle domestic violence policy? How would he handle sexual harrassment policy when he has admitted to being a perpertrator!
THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE AXED IMMEDIATELY.
11. Support Megan Williams..This was a hate crime
Authorities decided Wednesday not to pursue hate crime charges in the kidnapping and weeklong torture of a black woman, instead going after the suspects, who are white, on state charges that carry stiffer penalties.
While federal civil rights or state hate crime charges remain an option, a state kidnapping count that carries a sentence of up to life in prison will provide the best chance for successful prosecution, officials said.
Six people face charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault and lying to police in the torture of Megan Williams, 20, at a remote hillside home in Big Creek.
State hate crime charges, which carry a sentence of 10 years, could come later, prosecutor Brian Abraham said. State sexual assault charges carry a penalty up to 35 years in prison.
The woman's captors forced her to eat rat droppings, choked her with a cable cord and stabbed her in the leg while calling her a racial slur, according to criminal complaints. They also poured hot water over her, made her drink from a toilet, and beat and sexually assaulted her during a span of about a week, the documents say.
All six remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 cash bail each. Bobby Brewster is scheduled to appear before a Logan County Circuit Court judge on Monday to be arraigned on the kidnapping charge, according to court records. A date for his mother's appearance on the kidnapping charge has not yet been set.
Hate crimes --occur when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her membership in a certain social group, usually defined by race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, or political affiliation.
How is this not defined as a hate crime? If this type of behavior is being ignored in 2007, Imagine what can happen in the future if this is not handled properly now.
The average cost of birth control and safe sex methods in Canada for womyn over 21 is $25-50 a month. I believe that the cost of birth control is the reason that unplanned pregnancies have risen among womyn below the poverty line by 30% in the last 3 years. This is a ridiculously high number that allows the cycle of poverty to continue, and get more vicious.
Right now, there is a rise in Sexually Transmitted Infections. Between 1997 and 2004 Chlamydia rose by 70%, Gonorrhea by 80%, and Syphilis by 908% in Canada. This is likely due to the cost of condoms, and inaccessibility of free condoms in places such as bars.

13. Global Environmental Tracking System for sexual offendors
After all the recent violations of our children by sexual preditors I feel a plan of action must take place.
After a conversation spanning many months, an associate and I feel that sexual predators (depending on circumstances behind crime) should be fitted with permanent GPS tracking devices.
Now I am sure this will raise questions about civil rights but to that I ask "What will it take to keep our children safe! from these individuals who liken their crimes to a sickness? All we currently offer is a sort of medication for those who are truly interested in receiving help for their illness and rehabilatation.
To futher this petition we would like to start a non profit organization that serves as a watch dog and monitoring these said predators.
We plan to rally behind this program to keep our children safe. I wish an organization like this did not have to exist. I wish we lived in a simpler time but the cold hard facts are that members of our community feel a program like this has become the lesser of two evils.
If you want to do whatever it takes to keep our kids and others in our community from meeting the same fate as Jessica Lungsford or Coralrose please sign this petition.
According to the Briar Oaks Property Management Company, upon installation of the security gates located at the entrance to the community, these gates will only be secured from 7pm until 7am daily, and left open the remainder of each day.

I am filing this after having my normal visitation stripped from my son, and no visitation awarded for my daughter. I went to court to try to gain custody, and she wrongfully accused me of sexual and physical abuse to her.
She had gone to a counselor and told her the lies, so she could use the counselor against me in court. On that day we did not get to cross examine, as the day was continued. The magistrate ordered my visitation with my son be supervised, and no visitation with my daughter until I was fully examined by a counselor or psycologist.
On the second day of court the woman who does the supervision had advised the court that she felt no need for concern if I had my normal visitation back. We had other useful witnesses that day as well, only to get the same ruling as before.
I feel I was wrongly stripped of my children, and now my son calls me my ex's boyfriends name, and has referred to him as daddy.
The damage done to my relationship with my children will take years to fix, and that is if I ever get my normal visitation back. I d want to propose this so it doesnt happen to other parents.

We the undersigned propose that after a Sexual Offender has finished his or her punishment, the offender should have to wear the Global Positioning Satellite - hereinafter referred to as GPS - for the purpose of knowledge of the offender's whereabouts at all times.
To pay for such an incumberence to taxpayers, we the undersigned propose that the Offender work in an assigned job such as those that many Americans find "undesirable." Maybe even those that illegal immigrants are doing.
This may even help the immigration issue.
17. The Effect of Smoking On Teens
July 17, 2006
Teen smoking rates - which plummeted dramatically over the past eight years - now appear to be leveling off, a trend that concerns many public health experts.
They're worried not just about the diminishing numbers of teens who are choosing to quit, but also about what may be in store for the 1 million plus new smokers who are succumbing to the habit each year.
Cigarette smoking during childhood and adolescence produces significant health problems among young people, including cough and phlegm production, an increase in the number and severity of respiratory illnesses, decreased physical fitness, an unfavorable lipid profile and potential retardation in the rate of lung growth and the level of maximum lung function.
An estimated 440,000 Americans die each year from diseases caused by smoking.
Each day, nearly 6,000 children under 18 years of age start smoking; of these, nearly 2,000 will become regular smokers. That is almost 800,000 annually.
It is estimated that at least 4.5 million U.S. adolescents are cigarette smokers.
Approximately 90 percent of smokers begin smoking before the age of 21.
If current tobacco use patterns persist, an estimated 6.4 million children will die prematurely from a smoking-related disease.
According to a 2001 national survey of high school students, the overall prevalence of current cigarette use was 28 percent.
Nearly graders and 5.5 percent of 8th graders smoke cigarettes daily.
Adolescents who smoke regularly can have just as hard a time quitting as long-time smokers.
Of adolescents who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime, most of them report that they would like to quit, but are not able to do so.
Cigarette advertisements tend to emphasize youthful vigor, sexual attraction and independence themes, which appeal to teenagers and young adults struggling with these issues.
Tobacco use in adolescence is associated with a range of health-compromising behaviors, including being involved in fights, carrying weapons, engaging in high-risk sexual behavior and using alcohol and other drugs.
18. Zero tolerance for repeat sex offenders
July 14, 2006
To ask that the sentences for sex offences both of adult and children be made more severve.
The way sentences are handed out in these cases are a travesty. The inept sentences serve only to re-victimise the victim and make it easy for offenders to continue to offend.
I am asking that the sentences for first offence be no less than 5 years Australia wide and that if a convicted offender re-offends post release that there be put in place a zero tolerance no second chance law that sentences them to life with no opportunity for parole How many more times do rapists and child molesters need to some that they are unremorseful for their acts and will continue to re-offend at every opportunity.
U people in parliament have the power with in ur hands to change this it's time we screamed NO loudly and put the message across that we as a society will not tolerate sexual predators FULL STOP.
When you read this thing of poor Sofia before you just dismiss my words and do your job speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, make the sentences just not unjust.
Think of innocence (of a child) then attempt to put a value on it, then think how long these sexual predators should rot behind bars.
Please stand up and fix the problem now.
19. Stop child predators in Canada
May 30, 2006
As a mother of two, it just sickens me that there are sexual predators preying on our children.
WHEN and IF they are charged they get an insignificant punishment and let out in a couple of months
.and only to attack another helpless child! There was an 11-year old girl abducted in Armstrong, BC not to long ago, thankfully she was found 36 hours later. The man that abducted her was in his fifties and well known to police. What kind of sentence is he going to get? If you ask me, he should be put in jail to rot! We need tougher laws so these pitiful creatures do not harm our children any more.
Check this out: a businessman and father, was convicted of obtaining the sexual services of minors on four occasions. The court imposed the lenient penalty of a six months suspended sentence, one-year probation and a $500 fine.
BUT
A man was convicted of hitting Alberta Premier Ralph Klein in the face with a pie. Provincial Court has sentenced him to 30 days in jail, three months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $50 victim surcharge.
Makes sense doesn't it?
If you want to protect your children and get these jerks off the street, please sign, perhaps then the government will start listening.
20. Bring Condom Vending Machines to Westisle
March 01, 2006
Extensive research has shown that the availability of condoms in schools decreases teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease like HIV and Syphillis.
Reasearch also shows that condom availability does not cause sexual proactivity among teenagers, and mainly aids those who are already sexually active.

This is a petition for all the victims of drink spiking and drug rape.
If you realised your situation in time and were able to seek safety we still need your signatures. If you were not able to do this as you didn't realise what was happening, we need your signatures too.
Hopefully this petition will be strong enough to send to parliment, to police forces, to judges and to medical staff. To make them realise just how often this crime is happening.
As the home office and police forces have no figures on this crime, it is unknown how many people have suffered in silence.
"Statistical Update: July 2004
The latest breakdown of British survivors of the crime of drug related rape and sexual abuse through having their drinks spiked, as reported to the Roofie Foundation via their Help-line is as follows -
Drug Rape & Sexual Abuse Total Figures = 6,008" www.roofie.com
"One in four women say they have had a drink spiked in a club or pub."
"In the past five years, only 15 men have been convicted of the crime." http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,,1300147,00.html
Please help to put an end to what is seen to be the "Perfect Crime".
Thank you.

In December, 20 year old Tharsini, a pre school teacher in the Sri Lankan army occupied Northern Tamil island of Pungudutivu, was gang raped and murdered, allegedly by members of the Sri Lankan Military; her body found in a well next to a Sri Lankan Military camp.
She was murdered in a government designated 'high security zone' where civilians live, which means that access in and out of the zone is tightly controlled by soldiers. The evidence of the Sri Lankan Military's involvement in the rape, murder and attempted cover up, is extensively documented in a report by the North Easter Secretariat for Human Rights (www.nesohr.org) whose founder member Jospeph Pararajasingham has since been shot allegedly by Sri Lankan military intelligence.
The Pungudituvu Cooperative Society has said in a press release that the Sri Lankan Navy should take responsibility for the murder and has appealed for international action to ensure that women in their island and in neightbouring areas can live without fear of violence from the occupying army. The Pungudutive Welfare Association in the United Kingdom have taken up this appeal.
We, the undersigned join in their appeal and ask for action by the British government and the European Union, to ensure accountability and to prevent future sexual abuse of women in army occupied areas. As we draft this appeal a 16 year old school girl in another part of Jaffna was abducted on her way home from school by Sri Lankan soldiers. Your immediate preventive action is asked for.
Many of those who have appealed for justice for Tharsini so far have been intimidated and some shot by the Sri Lankan Army & Navy.
· When her body was found, residents protested against the Sri Lankan Navy. A 55 year old post man was shot by the Sri Lankan armed forces.
· The University of Jaffna, both its professors and students, then took up the protest. They too, including the Vice Chancellor, Professors and students were assaulted and shot by the Sri Lankan Army.
· Mr Gajendran, TNA Member of Parliament for Jaffna who joined the protest march for justice for Tharsini was injured by the Sri Lankan Army. The TNA party protested in Parliament. But on Christmas Eve, after the protest, the TNA's leading parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham was also shot.
· Journalists who covered the protests were assaulted.
We the undersigned, who live in Britain in relative safety, now take up this appeal for immediate and unequivocal action as outlined below.
23. Marry me or force me to become a Lesbian
November 22, 2005
I have become frusterated & disillusioned while waiting for my knight in shining armor to marry me in a forever marriage! Marriage should be forever! sex can wait!
I wish it was the 1950s when ladies wore beautiful dresses and men wore button down shirts and slacks! the world was covered in happiness and glitter... sighs... should i become a Lesbian? i was not born that way, but i am easily influenced by others in this strange modern society.
I should probably do some good to humankind and join a convent (that part is serious!) the rest is kind of humorous. so lighten up! freedom of speech is awesome! please reply.
Help me believe that people still have morals in 2005. what should i do?
Please bring me hope.
24. Protect The Next Generation
To protect our children from sexual predators!
Dear President Bush,
Children across the Globe are being placed into the hands of pedophiles. We are aware you do not have the jurisdiction to save the children across the Globe. You DO have the ability to protect the children throughout the United States.
Megan's Law is not being properly enforced and the rules are too weak. Pedophiles should not have the right to live around the corner from a day care center, to have access to pornography online, to use our local swimming pools, and to have the rights that mentally healthy people have!
Pedophiles are mentally ill and do not belong in society! It has been proven that Megan's Law does not protect our children it is merely a stepping-stone for something more drastic to take place. Sex offenders escape registering. Pedophiles do not fear their punishment because our judicial system has allowed them to escape their conviction with a plea bargain. We are starting this petition to remind you that all of our children are at risk.
Our next generation will not be a healthy one if something is not done to improve this matter now. This needs to be a priority in our financial budget. When 9/11 happened our country scraped change from the change jars across the USA to fund Operation Iraqi Freedom. Meanwhile, our children are in the hands of over 400,000 pedophiles that are registered across the USA, which does NOT include the ones that are not registered.73 percent of prostitutes were sexually abused before the age of 16, 83 percent of convicted killers (men and women) were physically and emotionally abused as children, and 32.2 percent were sexually abused, 60 percent of teenage mothers were sexually abused as children, and 73 percent of female runaways are sexually abused. Child Sexual Abuse is everyone's problem. Survivors of CSA are vastly over represented among certain populations affecting all those around them, our society as a whole, and the cost to our systems (billions each year). We are asking you to impose a stronger punishment. Prohibit plea bargains!
We demand harsher punishments. Pedophiles should receive a life sentence of probation. They should have to report monthly with personal information in order to live in our society. Pedophiles should not have the right to have their own children! Pedophiles need to be branded in our society to ensure our children's safety. Any jobs involving contact with children should not be allowed including something as small as an Ice Cream Man position.
If you care about our children and your own MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
On behalf of our babies.
25. NEW LAWS FOR SEXUAL PREDATORS
THIS PETITION IS ASKING CONGRESS TO CHANGE EXISTING LAWS CONCERNING CHILD SEXUAL PREDATORS, TO REQUIRE A CONVICTED CHILD SEXUAL PREDATOR TO WEAR AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE AT ALL TIMES FOR LIFE...
26. Rights for Sex Abuse Survivors First!
I vote that the rights of survivors of child sexual abuse are not being put first and should be. It takes an enormous amount of personal fortitude to even open up and say "I have been abused". Thus, it should be no issue that when a survivor addresses the issue with the police or authority concerned that in all cases the survivor should be treated seriously, with respect and dignity and their concerns should be invesitigated without fail.
Survivors are put off by a system that does not care, causing a life of stress and a cost to the economy. Equally importantly, the pedophile is allowed to roam free to attack other children. We can prevent these situations, and should. If you agree, vote now.
27. Parole Protest against Jason Allen Hayes
I am writing this letter of protest against Jason Allen Hayes, TDCJ #01046470, date of birth 6-15-1975.
On June 12, 2001 he was sentenced to senven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justic, Institutional Division. As of November 22, 2004, Jason is eligible for parole.
Having pled Guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a Child not only of his own son, but also his ex-wife's little sister, Jason Hayes should serve the full length of time he was originally sentenced. A child molester that is sentenced for only seven years is not rehabilitated in that small lengh of time. What is seven years compared to a lifetime of instability, guilty feelings, insecurity, and low self-esteem that Hason has inflicted on these two small children's lives?
We the people of one of the abused children, residents of our community, and Panola County, Texas law enforcement would like to enter a petition against the possibility of Jason Allen Hayes receiving parole.
The 1996 (DOMA) Defense of Marriage Act was enacted into law. This law clearly states that the definition of marriage is a bond between one woman and one man. This clearly states that same sex relations are not considered to be married legaly.
Taken from a letter from Patty Murray, she states "The Constitution leaves marriage to be regulated by the states rather than the federal government."
Another letter from Adam Smith on the Gay Marriage Bill states, "The amendment in question would prohibit states from allowing gay marriage... After evaluating the issue carefully, I have serious concerns with theis amendment and will oppose it. . . I do not see gay marriage as a threat that would chang the rights or obligations of heterosexual marriage. The real threat to marriage is abuse, neglect or outright lack of commitment to the contract people have voluntarily entered into when taking marriage vows. I believe our society is made stronger buy more committed and stable relationships, and we should encourage that."
Robert Benne and Gerald McDermott | posted 02/19/2004 has this to say, " We believe there are compelling reasons why the institutionalization of gay marriage would be 1) bad for marriage, 2) bad for children, and 3) bad for society.
1. The first casualty of the acceptance of gay marriage would be the very definition of marriage itself. For thousands of years and in every Western society marriage has meant the life-long union of a man and a woman. Such a statement about marriage is what philosophers call an analytic proposition. The concept of marriage necessarily includes the idea of a man and woman committing themselves to each other. Any other arrangement contradicts the basic definition.
Scrambling the definition of marriage will be a shock to our fundamental understanding of human social relations and institutions. One effect will be that sexual fidelity will be detached from the commitment of marriage. The advocates of gay marriage themselves admit as much. "Among gay male relationships, the openness of the contract makes it more likely to survive than many heterosexual bonds," Andrew Sullivan, the most eloquent proponent of gay marriage, wrote in his 1996 book, Virtually Normal. "There is more likely to be a greater understanding of the need for extramarital outlets between two men than between a man and a woman. … Something of the gay relationship's necessary honesty, its flexibility, and its equality could undoubtedly help strengthen and inform many heterosexual bonds."
The former moderator of the Metropolitan Community Church, a largely homosexual denomination, made the same point. "Monogamy is not a word the gay community uses," Troy Perry told The Dallas Morning News. "We talk about fidelity. That means you live in a loving, caring, honest relationship with your partner. Because we can't marry, we have people with widely varying opinions as to what that means. Some would say that committed couples could have multiple sexual partners as long as there's no deception."
A recent study from the Netherlands, where gay marriage is legal, suggests that the moderator is correct. Researchers found that even among stable homosexual partnerships, men have an average of eight partners per year outside their "monogamous" relationship.
In short, gay marriage will change marriage more than it will change gays.
Further, if we scramble our definition of marriage, it will soon embrace relationships that will involve more than two persons. Prominent advocates hope to use gay marriage as a wedge to abolish governmental support for traditional marriage altogether. Law Professor Martha Ertman of the University of Utah, for example, wants to render the distinction between traditional marriage and "polyamory" (group marriage) "morally neutral." She argues that greater openness to gay partnerships will help us establish this moral neutrality (Her main article on this topic, in the Winter 2001 Harvard Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Law Review, is not available online, but she made a similar case in the Spring/Summer 2001 Duke Journal Of Gender Law & Policy). University of Michigan law professor David Chambers wrote in a widely cited 1996 Michigan Law Review piece that he expects gay marriage will lead government to be "more receptive to [marital] units of three or more" (1996 Michigan Law Review).
2. Gay marriage would be bad for children. According to a recent article in Child Trends, "Research clearly demonstrates that family structure matters for children, and the family structure that helps the most is a family headed by two biological parents in a low-conflict marriage." While gay marriage would encourage adoption of children by homosexual couples, which may be preferable to foster care, some lesbian couples want to have children through anonymous sperm donations, which means some children will be created purposely without knowledge of one of their biological parents. Research has also shown that children raised by homosexuals were more dissatisfied with their own gender, suffer a greater rate of molestation within the family, and have homosexual experiences more often.
Gay marriage will also encourage teens who are unsure of their sexuality to embrace a lifestyle that suffers high rates of suicide, depression, HIV, drug abuse, STDs, and other pathogens. This is particularly alarming because, according to a 1991 scientific survey among 12-year-old boys, more than 25 percent feel uncertain about their sexual orientations. We have already seen that lesbianism is "chic" in certain elite social sectors.
Finally, acceptance of gay marriage will strengthen the notion that marriage is primarily about adult yearnings for intimacy and is not essentially connected to raising children. Children will be hurt by those who will too easily bail out of a marriage because it is not "fulfilling" to them.
3. Gay marriage would be bad for society. The effects we have described above will have strong repercussions on a society that is already having trouble maintaining wholesome stability in marriage and family life. If marriage and families are the foundation for a healthy society, introducing more uncertainty and instability in them will be bad for society.
In addition, we believe that gay marriage can only be imposed by activist judges, not by the democratic will of the people. The vast majority of people define marriage as the life-long union of a man and a woman. They will strongly resist redefinition. Like the 1973 judicial activism regarding abortion, the imposition of gay marriage would bring contempt for the law and our courts in the eyes of many Americans. It would exacerbate social conflict and division in our nation, a division that is already bitter and possibly dangerous.
I strive daily to uphold the laws of the land but what is going on in the Nation about Marriage, I must speak up. I am a Christian and the higer voice we should seek and listen to is that of the Bible. Let me quote the breath of God in this matter, "For this reason, a man (male) will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife (woman), and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24
There was a problem with this same thing in the Bible, what does it say about Gays and Lesbians? "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, that is detestable." Leviticus 18:22
" Are you still so dull ? Jesus asked them Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart and these make the man unclean. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultry, sexual immorality, theft, false testamony, slander. These are what makes a man unclean." Matthew 15:16-20
WE find in many other New Testament books of warnings of immoral relations, we must listen to them.
29. Changing the statuatory rape law in Vermont.
I am trying to get signatures for a petition to change the current statuatory rape/sexual assault on a minor laws in the state of Vermont. Currently my nephew is incarcerated for 2-15 years for a sexual assault on a minor charge when he was 19 and the minor girl was close to her 16th year birthday. He has been sentenced to 2 years to serve with a 15 year sentence suspended which he will have to remain on probation and register as a sex offender. He can not even be allowed around his nieces and nephews.
Some states have a clause in their law to state that within a 4-5 year age difference, sex between willing participants falls within the law. So many young men have lost their lives either behind bars or through having to register as a sex offender for something that was consensual. I am trying to help these individuals. If my nephew served the 2 years and it was over that would even be more understandable. However he has to register as a sex offender which means that any neighborhood he moves to when he is allowed out of prison is a set up for failure.
30. Include Sexual Orientation to the Nondiscrimination code
Although the Supreme Court overruled Amendment 2 by the Colorado government that would allow discrimination againt the gay, lesbian and bisexual community in such areas as housing, employment and education, the Weld County school district has yet to include sexual orientation to their nondiscrimiination code in their district's code of conduct. This lack of equal rights allows homosexuals in Weld County schools to be discriminated against purely on their sexual preference.
