Petition Tag - self harm
1. Don't Cut Campaign: Awareness rather than self-harm
The Don't Cut Campaign is aimed at young people, but open to everyone. We aim to make the world aware that self-harm is a major issue, and should be fought against.
There are other ways of expressing issues that may be causing people trouble, rather than self-harm.
For any questions please ask us at milliosmiles@outlook.com
No Secrets currently provide peer-support to those affected by self-injury. We are a voluntary group and non of our volunteers are paid for their time.
We provide training to local professionals around self-injury however it seems that accident and emergency and other medical staff think that this is not relevant to them.
ANYBODY can be affected by self-injury, and if you are working in healthcare of any kind you should be appropriately trained to deal with self-injury.
3. Suicide Prevention Campaign - Lets Do Something!
IT'S A MATTER OF LIFE & DEATH - YOUR LOVED ONES NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!
SUICIDE IS CAUSING MORE DEATHS IN NORTHERN IRELAND THAN SWINE FLU AND ROAD ACCIDENTS - SO WHERE IS THE SENSE OF URGENCY TO UNDERSTAND AND ELIMINATE THIS KILLER? WHERE ARE THE EMERGENCY PREVENTION STRATEGIES, SCHEMES & CAMPAIGNS? We see no education in schools, no information and training for parents, no TV campaigns to raise awareness and a minimum of funding for the voluntary sector who are trying to help....... The government is failing miserably in its duty to preserve and protect the lives of our loved ones.... WHY??
Author and community worker, Andrew Willoughby, project manager on a scheme funded by the Australian government - Project X - brought the suicide rate in an Australian town down to ZERO - Yes that's right - ZERO! and it took little more than 12 months to achieve!
Andrew Willoughby visited Derry City in January 2008 to pass on this knowledge, experience and findings. See the article about his visit here
http://www.derryjournal.com/interview/Andrew-Willoughby-to-visit-city.3718000.jp
Despite his visit - OUR LOVED ONES ARE STILL DYING BY SUICIDE - WHY?
BECAUSE THE GOVT & OTHER OFFICIAL BODIES CHOOSE NOT TO INVEST OR INVEST A BARE MINIMUM IN THIS AREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - our loved ones are dying needlessly - all the resources we need to prevent any more suicides is there for the asking - all we need to do is: GET ENOUGH PEOPLE TO ASK!!!!!! We need the government to sit up, take notice, acknowledge the emergency and urgency of the situation and implement this scheme on a nationwide scale... IMMEDIATELY! THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH:(.
How many more of our children and loved ones have to die before something is done?
Please follow the link below to sign this petition and pass it on to everyone you know - help make a difference and prevent any more needless deaths.

4. More Support For Children's Mental Health
1 in 10 children and young people aged 5 - 16 suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder.
1 in 12 children and young people deliberately self-harm and around 25,000 are admitted to hospital every year due to the severity of their injuries.
Nearly 80,000 children and young people suffer from severe depression.
Those statistics above were collected from http://www.youngminds.org.uk who aim to support children and young people living with mental illness.
Rarely do we think of mental illness in children and young people, but as a 14 year old self harmer I am asking you to pay more attention to solving this problem.
Living with mental illness that you cannot combat alone is lonely and scary, so please, fund more charities that support those under 18 with mental and allow more children to be helped through more organisations.
