Petition Tag - responsible tourism

Since the creation of City Center, Bethlehem’s old city, its merchants, arts and crafts workers, small shops and its soul have disappeared in favour of the monstrous commercial center where all tourists buses are forced to park.

For the sake of social justice, fair distribution of tourism income and the saving of the old city, we urge the Bethlehem Municipality to take steps to revive the Old City of Bethlehem and notably Star Street.

In the past many attempts were made and each have failed as the change has to be organic, has to come from the people and will not be an immediate change.

منذ تأسيس المركز التجاري (المحطة المركزية)، اختفى في مدينة بيت لحم القديمة كثير من التجار والحرفيون والفنانون والمحلات التجارية الصغيرة وتلاشت روحها لصالح المركز التجاري حيث تجبر جميع حافلات السياح والزوار إلى الوقوف.

فمن أجل العدالة الاجتماعية والتوزيع العادل للدخل السياحي بين المواطنين، وإنقاذ المدينة القديمة، فإننا نحث بلدية بيت لحم على اتخاذ خطوات من اجل احياء البلدة القديمة في بيت لحم وخاصة شارع النجمة.

وأيمانا منا بان التغير يجب ان يأتي من الشعب أيضا، نتمنى على اصحاب المحال التجارية التفاعل مع هذه الخطوة لتنشيط البلدة القديمة والتفاعل الايجابي معها.
