1. Make Remicade® Affordable for Canadians
$30,000 a year is too much!
Remicade® Users Unite was established April 28, 2012 to give a voice to all Canadians who want to pay a reasonable price for the prescription intravenous infusion drug Remicade®.
Remicade® Users Unite is lobbying Canada's provincial and territorial governments to combine their buying power and purchase Remicade® in bulk. By working together and buying in bulk, we believe we can get a better price on Remicade®, and so make it more affordable and available to those who need it.
2. Abolishment of Prescription Charges in England
England is now the only country in the so called 'United' Kingdom that pays prescription charges. Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland all pay nothing.
This is unfair and undemocratic. People who live in England have been taking it for too long.
3. Providing free prescriptions for narcolepsy and cataplexy sufferers
Narcolepsy and Cataplexy are incurable conditions which are inter-linked. They cause problems for the sufferers due to the spontaneity of the condition and the severity of it, causing any situation to become dangerous.
Cataplexy is, in brief, a condition in which heightened emotions cause muscles to weaken, making the sufferer collapse, which can potentially and almost always be life-threatening.
Narcolepsy, in brief, is a condition in which the sufferer sleeps excessively and experiences hallucinations and sleep paralysis on a daily basis.
This can be distressing and painful for everyone involved and so medication to control the conditions is essential in most cases. This medication can drastically change a life and allow sufferers like me to work and live almost as normal.

5. Campaign for free prescriptions for asthmatics
Despite an email to Stephen Atkinson asking if/what the Government were going to do about providing free prescriptions for asthmatics (as they already do for a number of groups with life threatening illnesses), all I got in reply was a standard "You can buy a Pre-payment Certificate or apply for help with an HC11 form", neither of which are an option for a lot of people, often on low incomes, but earning too much to receive free prescriptions.
As can be seen from the figures provided by the Asthma Organisation, people are dying every day from asthma but still the Government does not seem to think this disease a priority.
Many people do not use their inhalers simply because of the cost, thus increasing the risk of hospitalisation. Though there are thousands of people suffering from this disease, surely the Government will save thousands of pounds of NHS money by preventing the attacks that lead to hospitalisation.
To help in opening the Government's eyes, please sign this petition.
(I have a copy of the email if anyone would like to view it).
