1. Say No to the Pickering Airport! 
Scientists and Environmentalists are urging us to fly less, yet our Government appears to be encouraging us to fly MORE, by even considering the proposal to construct an International Airport in rural north Pickering (just up the road from the Pickering Nuclear Plant!).
The land that the GTAA has their sites on is graded as class one agricultural soil and also serves as the last remaining undeveloped habitat for many species of wildlife.
It is a proven fact that airports and the aircraft industry contribute a great deal, to global warming and the green house effect, yet the plans for the Pickering airport are almost 3 times larger than Pearson International airport. (Pearson is built on 4,400 acres, Pickering will be 11,700 acres) ....... HOW’S THAT FOR A CARBON FOOTPRINT??!!
SUMMARY:
The construction of Pickering Airport will result in an extreme increase in AIR & NOISE POLLUTION, LOSS OF GREENSPACE, WILDLIFE, AN ENTIRE WATERSHED & PRIME FARMLAND, CONTAMINATED WATER SYSTEMS and HEALTH HAZARDS.
It will also greatly contribute to GLOBAL WARMING and THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT.
