1. Paralympians to go First!

The achievements of Olympians cannot be denied.

However, the incredible spirit and determination of Paralympians is an inspiration to all of us who have been blessed to live without disabilities.

They, the Paralympics, should therefore, be staged immediately before the Olympic games in the same venues as a tribute not only to their achievements but also as an inspiration to all humanity in succeeding despite adversity.

The Para Olympics has always taken second stage to the main Olympics and they deserve the recognition they are entitled to just like able bodied Olympians.

3. Chicago Says "No Thanks" to the 2016 Olympics

The city of Chicago is broke. In December of 2008 the city is running a $469 million deficit. The city, county and state government is overrun with corruption and incompetence. Basic services are being cut back and our infrastructure needs repair.

We can not afford to sink billions into the Olympic games. The London games of 2012 are already $6 billion (pounds) over budget. If Chicago wants to claim and hold the title of "world class city," let's find more sensible and sustainable ways to get there.

4. No Olympic Games in Chicago

The people of Chicago were not involved in the decision to pursue the Olympics and do not want the financial and human rights cost that comes with the Olympic games.

7. Change The London 2012 Logo (extended campaign)

Due to overwhelming public support and demand, GoPetition.com has opened a fresh petition campaign to "Change The London 2012 Logo" that includes the signature count from the original London Logo campaign at GoPetition.com.

The signature count of this extended campaign represents the original count of 48,614 signatures from the original London Logo petition plus additional signatures by concerned citizens. The total combined signatures will be presented to the London Olympic Committee.

Note: This petition should not be confused with the original and extremely successful campaign that was closed on 6 June 2007 and can be accessed at http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/change-the-london-2012-logo.html

-----------------------------------------------
Extended Campaign:

On the 4th of June 2007 the London Olympic Committee in the UK released the logo that will represent London in the 2012 Olympics.

The logo has proven controversial and this petition outlines the view that the logo is overpriced and looks awful.

Several other petitions have been created, totaling over 45,000 signatures. This petition seeks to consolidate the support offered by a cross-section of petitions found on the GoPetition.com website.

We are therefore appealing to the public who have strong feelings about this issue, or have been frustrated by the closed campaign, to voice their concern on this petition.

9. No to London Olympics 2012

There has been very little opportunity for those opposed to the Olympic Games taking place in London to express their views. This petition has been set up, as part of the NoLondon2012
campaign, to allow people a voice.

10. Citius, Altius, Fortius

The International Olympic Committee, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that those who cannot compete at an "Olympic" standard are no longer welcome to participate in future Olympic Games.

This decision goes against the basic Olympic Creed, which Baron de Coubertin installed in 1896. It states the following:

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

Those who support this elitist decision are thumbing their nose at the very ideals that Baron de Coubertin envisioned when he brought back the Olympic Games.
