1. WJJG is For Smart Shows Only

Not only did 2011 see the sudden death of Joe Gentile, but the removal of intelligent programming and music from weekdays (and even parts of the weekend).

It is totally unfair to get rid of Angry White Male, Job Talk, John DiVita's Morning Show, and other programming that made WJJG an amazing radio station.

Mancow should not be on at all. He is incoherent and his show does not belong on a community radio station like WJJG. Michael Savage should be aired in two hours or removed too, and sent back to WIND.

If you believe that WJJG should continue with original programming and music during weekdays, please sign this petition. This is an outrage and we need to keep whatever we have left of special radio stations like WJJG.

3. RESPECT GAY RIGHTS - SCRAP THE ANTI-GAY BILL

Addressing an audience of diplomats in Geneva, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton called for the rights of gay people to be respected.

"Gay people are born into and belong to every society in the world," Mrs Clinton said.

"Being gay is not a Western invention. It is a human reality."Reacting angrily to Mrs Clinton's speech, Ugandan presidential adviser John Nagenda told the BBC: "That fellow [Mr Cameron] said the same thing. Now this woman [Clinton] is interfering.

"If the Americans think they can tell us what to do, they can go to hell."

Uganda is a staunch ally of the US, receiving military assistance to fight a local rebel group - the Lord's Resistance Army - and has sent troops to Somalia to fight the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab group.

Mr Nagenda said Uganda would continue to co-operate with the US on security and other issues, but added: "If they are childish enough to take away aid, we'll see what we do [in response]."

4. Keep Horse Slaughter Illegal In America

I'm going to make this short, sweet, and too the point. As you may or may not know, Obama quietly signed a bill to allow horse slaughter in America again.

Not only do I not believe in the brutal, inhumane ways of horse slaughter, I do not believe in the consumption of their meat. The horse slaughter plants will be opening again in about a month, or less. For those of you who don't know how a horse is slaughtered - it's not pretty, no mercy is shown to the horses.

Look it up on youtube.com to see for yourself. Simply signing this will not harm you in any way so even if horses are not your favorite animal - why not sign it? Also, don't think "what about cow slaughter?" I'm not saying that's okay, but this is here, for the horses. So, please sign this to save the horses where - yes, there are better endings for them rather than a brutal slaughter.

6. Prevent Afghan Torture, Enforce Leahy Law

A recent United Nations report suggests that the United States and NATO allies are outsourcing torture and human rights violations in Afghanistan. The report concludes that there is a continuing pattern and practice of “systematic” torture in spite of repeated efforts at reform. (UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, October 2011)

Current US policy violates the Leahy Amendment to the Foreign Appropriations Act and Defense Appropriations Act (Sec. 563, P.L. 106-429 and Sec. 8092, P.L. 106-259, 2001).

7. Review White House Petitions Site

This background is for the petition at WhiteHouse.Gov/Petitions that requests the creation of a new "Open Petitions" page similar to what you see below. Unfortunately, WhiteHouse.Gov makes no provision for adding comments. This site does, however, so consider signing the identical one at the bottom of this page as well.

The petition signature totals you see below are linked to their WhiteHouse.Gov pages and are updated daily. Bear in mind that there are 2 signature thresholds:

1. 150 - to become open (visible) to the general public at WhiteHouse.Gov, and therefore here as well. Petition authors must solicit this initial 150 on their own, and the vast majority of petitions expire after 30 days without ever reaching this threshold.

2. 25,000 - to generate official Obama Administration responses. Each petition has only 30 days to make it, including the time it takes to become visible to the general public after crossing the first threshold. (This second threshold of 25,000 was raised from its original 5,000 on October 3.)

Petitions On Track for Official Responses
(Petitions must average at least 834 per day to reach 25,000 in 30 days.
Successful ones are removed from this page on their expiration dates, but
remain open for viewing and signing until they receive official responses.)

8. No U.S. Escalation in Pakistan

The September 22 testimony of Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, may well “pave the way… to new unilateral military actions inside Pakistan,” including more drone strikes and, “even cross border raids into Pakistan to root out insurgents from their havens.” (New York Times, September 22-23, 2011)

After Mullen’s testimony, the Heritage Foundation immediately called for aggressive military and diplomatic escalation. (Christian Science Monitor, September 26, 2011) House Republicans are pushing an open-ended authorization for war against any insurgents anywhere in the world “associated” with the Taliban or Al Qaeda.

Enough is enough. Escalation in Pakistan is not in the national security interest of the United States. Already our drone attacks have provoked two terrorist near misses against American civilians, one at the Detroit airport on Christmas Day 2009 and another at Times Square on May 1, 2010. It is not in the economic interest of the United States; we cannot afford another trillion-dollar war. It is not in the moral interest of the United States; the drone attacks kill innocent people and inflame millions of Pakistanis against America.

The military pursuit of terrorist sanctuaries, first in Iraq and then in Afghanistan, has left behind thousands dead and wounded and only pushed the sanctuaries to new locations. Each escalation begets another. Besides Pakistan, our government is pursuing undeclared air wars against terrorist cells with drone attacks in Somalia and Yemen. (Washington Post, September 20, 2011)

It makes no sense to escalate attacks against the Pakistan sanctuaries of the Afghan Taliban while the US ends its combat role, gradually withdraws from Afghanistan, and supports a power-sharing arrangement with all parties. It is irrational to bomb the Taliban’s sanctuaries while inviting them to the peace table. A genuine diplomatic settlement requires a phased ending of the drone attacks as US troops phase out their role in Afghanistan.

Sending in ground troops backed by air power is as foolish as President Nixon’s 1970 invasion of Cambodia allegedly to wipe out Vietcong sanctuaries.

11. Bashar Asad has Lost the Legitimacy to Rule Syria

Dear President Obama, I am writing to express my deep concern about the situation in Syria, and to ask for your support. In your speech in May, you said that Bashar Assad could "lead [a] transition ... or get out of the way."

By now it is painfully obvious that he does not intend to allow a transition to democracy or any kind of meaningful change for his people. This, combined with the brutal tactics used by his security forces, makes Bashar Assad unfit to govern.

18. Raise Federal Minimum Wage in the United States

In the United States, the average minimum wage (remember, there are different minimum wages for every state) is $7.45 per hour. That means that an average worker earning minimum wage would earn $15,496 per year.

In my opinion, that is a tiny amount for their use because they would have to spend alot on regular expenses like food and bills. Minimum wages need to be raised and you can help raise them now by signing this petition.

19. National Safe Seafood Council's Petition for Testing

Since the BP Oil Disaster, America's Gulf seafood has been in question. As Americans watched the millions gallons of oil pouring into the Gulf of Mexico in horror, those businesses and families that depend on the Gulf for their livelihoods held their breath.

While the people of the Gulf had seen oil spills before, the BP Oil Spill would change the environment and their lives for generations to come. It seems that Washington DC thinks Americans are simply naive and that be issuing a few press releases and some commercials that everything will be fine. Well Mr. President, I for one can say that is not good enough.

More needs to be done and it needs to be done right now before these hard working people, who want only to work for their money, become another statistic in what history is sure call America's worst nightmare. Do you feel safe Mr. President feeding this seafood to your children and what it may do to them on a cellular level? Do you fear what it may do to your grand children because that is what "we the people" fear the most!

There seems to be only one organization that has made a commitment to any kind of stand on this issue. The NationalSafe SeafoodCouncil.com has been created by some of the same people effected by this disaster and they are committed to see this through until funding is provided for proper long term testing.

20. Free the Children of Palestine!

According to Israeli police, 1200 Palestinian children have been arrested, interrogated and imprisoned in the occupied city of Jerusalem alone this year. The youngest of these children was seven-years old.

Children and teen-agers were often dragged out of their beds in the middle of the night, taken in handcuffs for questioning, threatened, humiliated and many were subjected to physical violence while under arrest as part of an ongoing campaign against the children of Palestine. Since the year 2000, more than 8000 have been arrested by Israel, and reports of mistreatment are commonplace.

Further, based on sworn affidavits collected in 2009 from 100 of these children, lawyers working in the occupied West Bank with Defense Children International, a Geneva-based non governmental organization, found that 69% were beaten and kicked, 49% were threatened, 14% were held in solitary confinement, 12% were threatened with sexual assault, including rape, and 32% were forced to sign confessions written in Hebrew, a language they do not understand.

Minors were often asked to give names and incriminate friends and relatives as a condition of their release. Such institutionalized and systematic mistreatment of Palestinian children by the state of Israel is a violation international law and specifically contravenes the Convention on the Rights of the Child to which Israel is supposedly a signatory.

21. United States of America's Border Security Is None Of The United Nations’ Business!

Barack Obama has just given the United Nations jurisdiction to go after the State of Arizona and the 22 other states that are attempting to enforce the immigration laws that he refuses to enforce.

Unfortunately, you read that right. On August 20, the United States, for the first time ever, submitted a 29 page “Universal Periodic Review" (UPR) to the UN Human Rights Council which outlines a laundry list of alleged human rights abuses supposedly committed by the United States.

Of course, the UPR is pure rubbish, but it's also much more than an opportunity for Barack Hussein Obama, the Apologist-In-Chief, to bad-mouth America to the rest of the world. Contained within that laundry list of so-called abuses is a direct condemnation of S.B. 1070, legislation enacted by the State of Arizona (and supported by two-thirds of the American people), which seeks to do the job that the federal government has refused to do... secure the border.

According to the UPR: "A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined."

The submission of this UPR is the first step in a United Nations review process which will culminate with the issuance of a plan of action, approximately 90 days from now, from a panel of UN bureaucrats from France, Japan, and Cameroon.

And yes... the United States would be expected to "voluntarily" comply with the UN panel's recommendations, but as the UN Human Rights Council states on its website: “The Human Rights Council will decide on the measures it would need to take in case of persistent non-cooperation by a State...."

In short, Barack Obama has upped the ante. Not content with simply filing a frivolous federal suit against the people of Arizona, Obama has transformed his amnesty feud with the American people into an international human rights cause and effectively placed the people of Arizona (and the 22 other states that are considering similar border security legislation) under the jurisdiction of a triumvirate of America-hating United Nations bureaucrats.

25. Action Now to Save the Gulf

SIGN PETITION AT BOTTOM OF PAGE. THANK YOU.

We are the "SMALL PEOPLE" of the Gulf Coast States.
We will not stand idly by and let the "BIG PEOPLE" destroy us, our jobs, our industries, our communities and our country. We may be small but we are many and so are our friends around this great nation.

We, the "Small People" are the oil industry. Stop demonizing us.

We will take our lives back from the "BIG PEOPLE", the outsiders from Washington and other foreign countries that have caused this preventable disaster. The "BIG PEOPLE" are making the problem worse through their incompetence, inaction, exploitation and politicization of this crises.

We are tough, proud, hardworking, innovative and independent.

We know how to solve problems and this problem can be solved if BP and Washington get out of the way.

We are even more concerned about protecting the environment than all the environmentalists, media and academics combined. The Gulf is our heart and our soul; our livelihood and our inspiration. Fishing, oil and gas production and tourism have been our lifeblood for generations.

We will not let BP and Washington destroy, in 60 days, what we have built for generations.

We will survive because if we don't it will be the beginning of the end of America as we know it.

We will ween ourselves off of oil and gas when our enemies do the same. Until then they will take our oil if we don't. The reality is today there is no technology to replace fossil fuels; only the technology to make it safer and cleaner. Even a brief moratorium will force the best rigs and technology to quickly leave U.S. waters guaranteeing the destruction of the industry. This will dangerously weaken our national defenses.

We can get the well controlled and we will clean up and restore our environment better than before!

We will make BP and Washington pay for the catastrophy they have inflicted on us and our country.

In the meantime, we refuse to become dependent on BP and Washington.

We are the ones that will fix this. We want our jobs and our lives back and we want them now!

President Obama: Your ill-conceived moratorium and Washington's failure to act, instead of blame, is cutting off the lifeblood of our people. When our blood stops flowing, it won't matter if the leak is stopped, the Gulf Coast will already be dead and so will America.
Washington and BP have had their chance and have failed. The real disaster in the Gulf is what the government and BP are causing by not taking the following immediate actions.

This call to action is the opportunity to begin a nationwide economic recovery.

26. Michigan against Illegals

This petition is for Michigan to get rid of Illegals. I myself am tired of paying for them.

Illegal immigrants continue to outpace the number of legal immigrants—a trend that's held steady since the 1990s. While the majority of illegal immigrants continue to concentrate in places with existing large communities of Hispanics, increasingly illegal immigrants are settling throughout the rest of the country.

An estimated 13.9 million people live in families in which the head of household or the spouse is an unauthorized immigrant. Illegal immigrants arriving in recent years tend to be better educated than those who have been in the country a decade or more. A quarter of all immigrants who have arrived in recent years have at least some college education. Nonetheless, illegal immigrants as a group tend to be less educated than other sections of the U.S. population: 49 percent haven't completed high school, compared with 9 percent of native-born Americans and 25 percent of legal immigrants.

Illegal immigrants work in many sectors of the U.S. economy. According to National Public Radio, about 3 percent work in agriculture; 33 percent have jobs in service industries; and substantial numbers can be found in construction and related occupations (16 percent), and in production, installation, and repair (17 percent). According to USA Today, about 4 percent work in farming; 21 percent have jobs in service industries; and substantial numbers can be found in construction and related occupations (19 percent), and in production, installation, and repair (15 percent), with 12% in sales, 10% in management, and 8% in transportation. Illegal immigrants have lower incomes than both legal immigrants and native-born Americans, but earnings do increase somewhat the longer an individual is in the country.

27. Halt Dolphin Deaths

EchoGreen has been around for years with an intention to Do Something. We are a growing group of writers, musicians, singer songwriters, artists, media producers and web consultants. It's been a long time coming, the need is here.

Recently, as oil leaks into our oceans and we have images of tar rain pouring onto our bodies, homes, vehicles, animals and gardens, we cry for the dolphins, as it rains and we decide, the time is now.

EchoGreen will be sponsoring several petitions with the voice of those who are at one with the earth and its ways in the old way mixed with the new way.

The old way being, feeling the vibration of the earth and the beings, in other words, feeling their life, their voices and their feelings reverberate through our beings, while hearing the voice of the earth as if it is speaking our language and an animate object. Earth is an animate object, we often, have just lost our ability to hear what it has to say. She/it/he is talking to many of us at once. And we have something to say via our translations.

Whereas the new way is through media, through business, through the grid and the economy of the West, speaking out to the people who can make the difference because they have the economy and consumption at their fingertips.

We are the people, we are the change, we are the ones we have been waiting for and we are here. Let's take it for the big one, let's do what we can. Let's petition to businesses, to governments, to presidents, to the people. Let's make our voices loud and clear and let's take a stand.

We live, we eat, we release our waste, we breath, we love, we think, we feel, we dance, we laugh and we play, just as we all do or want to do.

It's time to do this without hurting the earth and others. What can we do? Whatever it is, you know inside you. Start by signing and making petitions and sending them to companies, making them popular. Campaigns are big and our voice can be heard. Do it from the heart and with integrity. Do it with true knowledge about what is best. For instance, how can we be mobile yet not consume oil? How can we receive food yet not have it inefficiently trucked across America? How can we save the seeds and not spread disease? How can we be healthy happy and harmonious?

We can do it. Let's do it, one at a time, before we can no longer breath, eat or stand.

January 1, 2008 marked the dissolution of the former Guatemalan notarial adoption system. This action, along with the ratification of the Hague Adoption Convention and initiation of a new adoption law, was strongly endorsed by the U.S. Department of State and UNICEF. In good faith, American families continued to initiate new adoptions through December 31, 2007, guaranteed the protections and practices of the former notarial system under Article 56 of the Ortega Law (Articulo 56 of the Ley de Adopciones (Decreto 77-2007).

Article 56. "Adoptions in process. All the notarial and judicial processes of adoption that are still being processed at the moment when the present law becomes effective, must be registered at the Central Authority, in a term no longer than thirty days, for the effects of the registration of the case, these will continue its process in conformity with the law in effect at the time of its initiation. The cases that are not registration within the term stated will be resolved according to the procedures stated in this law”.

Today, hundreds of Guatemalan children continue to languish in institutions awaited by U.S. families while their “grandfathered” adoptions tarry in political gridlock. The rights ensured in Article 56 have been violated as these cases are scrutinized without transparency outside the practices and protections of the law. Months to years have been added to wait times as families are required to jump through bureaucratic hoops, meet deadlines (some undisclosed), endure mutiple birth mother interviews, and undergo investigations by outside authorities; all beyond the required grandfathered procedures and protections.

As awaiting families, our concerns turn to panic as attempts increase to illegally delay and terminate in-process adoptions. Since the law changed over two years ago, authorities have waged a war on adoption in which families and children have become collateral damage. When we entered into these adoptions as a humanistic endeavor to love and embrace these children as our own, we were unprepared for the violations that lay ahead: illegal raids on children's homes, wrongful seizure of children with their whereabouts undisclosed to their adoptive families, prevention of visitation rights for adoptive families, harassment and bribery of birth mothers, violations of Guatemalan women’s rights to privacy and to choose an adoption plan for their children, and enforced placement of children with extended birth family members who are unwilling and/or unable to care for them are just some of the injustices we have witnessed and endured. Today, the forward motion of all in-process adoptions has virtually ceased as a cycle of fear and retribution has taken hold. Immediate senior level government intervention is needed to end this cycle and allow righteous and fair procedures to prevail.

If these adoptions are allowed to come to their completion, they certainly will not have occurred in an expeditious manner as Article 35 of the Hague Adoption Convention urges. The cornerstone of the convention is the cooperation between states (Article 7). We need the U.S. and Guatemalan governments to work together to determine an immediate and expeditious path to process our adoptions.

The efforts to serve and protect the innocent are failing them as they lose their childhood one day, month, and now, year at a time. Long-term emotional and physical consequences are inevitable as these children languish in under funded institutions and foster care. It grows increasingly difficult for children to be placed successfully within loving families as their spirit and salvation wither outside permanent parenting. Developmental delays, psychological damage, and severe struggles to bond are just some of the many challenges families must prepare for. With every day that passes, innocence wanes for the children who have stopped believing anyone wants them. As families fight desperately to adopt these children they endure sleepless nights and anxiety filled days not knowing if they will ever be able to bring them home. With financial hardship and constant worry resulting in hopelessness, we ask, “Who will finally put an end to this needless suffering and unite our families?”

The dissolution of the former adoption system, along with allegations of fraud in specific cases, has lead to a standstill that is violating children’s rights to a family and families’ rights to a fair and legal adoption.

All those associated with Guatemala 900 believe strongly in the sanctity of family. We value and celebrate legitimate, legal adoption practice and abhor any type of unethical action that may deny a birth family of their basic human rights. We advocate for adoption reform and applaud the Guatemalan government’s efforts to end corruption and prevent the abuse of children and birth families.

We must work together to uphold the law and ensure that the actions of corrupt individuals in specific cases does not lead to additional bureaucratic delay for the families and children who are innocent. We must prevent further harm to hundreds of awaiting families and thousands of orphaned and abandoned children whose cases are legitimate and legal.

30. We Stand With Arizona, and Against Illegal Immigration

Arizona is besieged by illegal immigration--more people and drugs cross illegally into the United States through Arizona than any other state. And Arizonans suffer the massive levels of crime that go with it. Drug and human smuggling, extortion, kidnapping and murders. And the Federal government has done NOTHING to stop it.

Arizonans have had enough. They decided to stop waiting for the Feds to do what the Constitution mandates--to protect its citizens from external threats. So they passed legislation to help stop the robberies, shootings, rapes, kidnapping, murders, and madness.

This isn't about racism, or xenophobia, or "apartheid" or any of the other hysterical slanders the left has come up. This is about the safety and well-being of the citizens of the state. And its support was overwhelming: 70% of Arizonans supported it. And support is Bi-Partisan, with 84% of Republicans and 51% of Democrats in favor.

But some have now come out and called for a boycott of Arizona. Incredibly, even one of its own U.S. Representatives--Rep. Raul Grijalva has joined this call for a boycott--of his own state!
