1. Stop violence against aid workers! 
Aid workers, whether they be humanitarian responders or development specialists can face life-threatening risks when assisting others.
The threats are numerous and range from conflict, terrorism, kidnappings, assaults, travel accidents, exposure to disease, and many others. In the last 4 years over 800 aid workers were victims of security incidents.
The perceived politicization of aid has motivated individuals or groups to use violence and specifically target those who seek to help vulnerable populations.

Peticion a SAGARPA de una Zona de "NO CAPTURA" y Veda de Tiburones en Playa del Carmen / Request that SAGARPA order the designation of a “no-take” zone for the benefit of the Sharks In Playa del Carmen and declarate a ban for five months.
Playa del Carmen ha sido un area de avistamiento de Tiburon Toro durante los ultimos 10 años y la semana pasada un pescador asesino a 25 hembras embarazadas en tres noches consecutivas acabando con una trabajo de 10 años.
La Organizacion Saving Our Sharks pretendia iniciar en Febrero del 2011 estudios para poder conocer mas de estas hermosas criaturas y asi poder protegerlas pero gracias a la matanza del pescador estos estudios se vieron frustrados.
Playa del Carmen has been an area of Bull Shark sightings for the last 10 years. The past week, a fisherman has killed 25 pregnant females over three consecutive nights, ending 10 years of work.
The organization “Saving Our Sharks” was to begin studies and tagging of the sharks in February of 2011 in order to learn more about these beautiful creatures and to protect them, but thanks to their killing by this fisherman, these studies have been thwarted.

3. Say NO to Anti-Human Rights Bill in Uganda

Do the right thing. Sign this petition and pass it on.
Uganda wants to introduce a new anti-gay bill. This bill allows for anyone who's been found HIV positive to be charged with the death penalty. I find this shocking coming from a country who's people have already suffered and have been tortured, enslaved, and persecuted in a 23 year long war with rebels.

'Human-rights groups, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have condemned the bill. They say it is a product of a campaign by evangelical churches and anti-gay groups that has led to death threats and physical assaults against Ugandans suspected of being gay.'
Caleb's Hope, along with countless other grassroots NGOs, works in Northern Uganda with women and children living with HIV/AIDS. This new bill could greatly impact the lives of those we are trying to assist.
Not only that, it's a fundamental human right to live free from persecution, violence and discrimination based on your sexual orientation.

4. Appeal to President Obama, First Lady and Mrs Clinton
The brutal attack on Camp Ashraf in Iraq on 28 July 2009, by direct order of Nuri Maliki has caused an international outcry. Amnesty International has issued seven statements and Urgent Appeals regarding the situation of the residents of the Camp. Thousands of European parliamentarians, jurists, human rights organisations and personalities have condemned this attack as 'Crime Against Humanity'. At present, 1,000 women in Ashraf are the prime target of Iraqis, proxies of Iranian theocratic regime. The following petition is addressed to US officials to protect these women. 5. ¿Qué se está haciendo realmente para detener la Trata de personas?
En los últimos diez años, la Trata de personas ha acaparando cada vez más la atención global; muchos gobiernos a través del mundo están desarrollando políticas y leyes para combatirla, y se están gastando cientos de millones de dólares a escala mundial. El próximo paso lógico sería examinar estos esfuerzos para combatir la Trata de personas y así, evaluar cómo se están poniendo en práctica las medidas contra la Trata (incluyendo la forma en que se está gastando el dinero) y cuáles son las consecuencias de estas medidas.
Necesitamos urgentemente un examen riguroso de la situación. Cada vez más, a los defensores de los Derechos Humanos y activistas de todo el mundo les preocupa que estas medidas contra la Trata de personas estén conduciendo a aún más violaciones. Tenemos que preguntarnos lo que los gobiernos realmente están haciendo para prevenir la Trata y proteger los derechos de las personas Tratadas. ¿Está funcionando? ¿Quién se beneficia? ¿Los derechos de las personas que emigran, o que regresan a sus países de origen, están mejor protegidos por las políticas de lucha contra la Trata?
CASO. El Gobierno de la India consideró a las trabajadoras migrantes como una “categoría particularmente vulnerable” y “dictó una orden que prohíbe que cualquier mujer trabajadora del hogar por debajo de la edad de 30 años sea empleada en el Reino de Arabia Saudita, bajo ninguna circunstancia.” La preocupación es que las mujeres puedan ser abusadas sexualmente o ser víctimas de la Trata en condiciones de explotación. Para evadir esta prohibición, las mujeres tienen que tomar opciones de migración más arriesgadas que sus contrapartes masculinos, lo que las hace aun más vulnerables a abusos en el lugar de destino. “(Daño Colateral, Capítulo India, GAATW p. 129).
Como parte de nuestro trabajo de lucha contra la Trata de personas, es necesario hacer que los gobiernos rindan cuentas sobre sus obligaciones internacionales de Derechos Humanos mediante la revisión de sus esfuerzos y que hagan los cambios apropiados para garantizar que todas las medidas contra la Trata sean eficaces y esté basadas en los Derechos Humanos.
Esta petición forma parte de “Pare, Mire, Escuche!” de la GAATW la Acción Urgente, para hacer un llamado por un Mecanismo de Revisión, y será presentada a los gobiernos durante la cuarta conferencia de Estados Parte de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas contra la Delincuencia Organizada Transnacional y sus Protocolos (incluido el Protocolo para prevenir, reprimir y sancionar la Trata de personas).
