1. Support a Tax Write-Off for Cloth Diapering Families
In 1988, over 18 billion diapers were sold and consumed in the United States that year. Disposable manufacturers say energy usage is the same for cloth or disposables, but the fact is that throwaways use five times more energy than reusable.
*The instructions on a disposable diaper package advise that all fecal matter should be deposited in the toilet before discarding, yet less than one half of one percent of all waste from single-use diapers goes into the sewage system.
* About 5 million tons of untreated body excrement, which may carry over 100 intestinal viruses, is brought to landfills via disposables. This may contribute to groundwater contamination and attract insects that carry and transmit diseases. In 1990, 18 billion disposables were thrown into United States landfills.
In 1988, nearly $300 million dollars were spent annually just to discard disposable diapers, whereas cotton diapers are reused 50 to 200 times before being turned into rags.
No one knows how long it takes for a disposable diaper to decompose, but it is estimated to be about 250-500 years, long after your children, grandchildren and great, great, great grandchildren will be gone.
Disposable diapers are the third largest single consumer item in landfills, and represent about 4% of solid waste. In a house with a child in diapers, disposables make up 50% of household waste.
Disposable diapers generate sixty times more solid waste and use twenty times more raw materials, like crude oil and wood pulp.
The manufacture and use of disposable diapers amounts to 2.3 times more water wasted than cloth.
Over 300 pounds of wood, 50 pounds of petroleum feedstocks and 20 pounds of chlorine are used to produce disposable diapers for one baby EACH YEAR.
2. Fair chances on apprenticeships
Majority of young people who are out of work apply for apprenticeships. Currently in my town there are many apprenticeships although I've apply for many and still seem to get nothing out of the interview.
Apprenticeships are supposed to be helping young people like myself although its just like a normal job in the UK only the best get the job and now its the same for apprenticeships only the ones with the grades get the chance. Like myself I have loads of experience but the interviewers were only interested at grades and levels which at the time I did not have certificates to prove my grades due me just finishing school and not receiving the certificate till August 2011.
For example I live in my own flat at 17 with barely any money, living on money from social services which is very difficult to live on, but I do not want to be on benefits in the future or now I would like an opportunity to have a job and not be sat at home doing nothing.
3. Access Codes College Should Pay For
Since the Internet is becoming more dominate in the classroom, students are forced to buy access codes to get information, grades, homework, and messages sent to them from their teachers.
With the money spent toward education, these extra features should be given to students.
4. Increase employer superannuation contributions to 12%
The Finance Sector Union is calling on finance workers to support the push for employer superannuation contributions to be increased to 12%.
I AM A SINGLE MOTHER LIVING IN MUSKEGON MICHIGAN. I FOLLOW ALL THE RULES SET DOWN BY LANSING TO GET FIA FROM THE STATE.
I AM SEARCHING FOR A JOB AND GOING TO WORK FIRST. THE STATE IS NOW TELLING ME THAT ME AND OTHERS LIKE ME CAN NOT GET AID FROM OUR STATE ANY LONGER. WITH THE ECONOMY LIKE IT IS IT IS GOING TO JUST MAKE CRIME RISE AND MORE PEOPLE HOMELESS AND KIDS HUNGRY..
6. End Homelessness by having a Homeless Awareness day in schools
I have seen homeless people on the street, but I never give them money because of fear that they would spend it on drugs and alcohol. This is not to due to prejudice at all; I would not give any stranger money because of this fear.
Homeless people are still people! One of the reasons why people are homeless is because they do not want to have to go into shelter because they do not want to lose their dogs. The answer to this would be to create more dog-friendly homeless shelters where the people have their own rooms where the dogs can be kept in to stop the risk of allergy in the other people. Another reason why people are homeless is due to not having enough money to afford household costs.
The answer to this too would be to use old buildings where possible and to build new homeless shelters, as well as to reduce household costs. Another common reason is due to family problems such as divorces and abuse. The solution to many of these domestic problems would be to promote the charity Samaritans more so that they can talk to these people.
If we do not help the homeless, they will be less inclined to want to help us if we ever need help for them. Also, we need to consider the people themselves as well. How would you like to have to sleep on a pavement all night and eat scraps and cheap food for your only meals?
As well as this, animal welfare may also suffer because they may sometimes get an even worse deal. This is not the homeless people's fault. Rather it is because they cannot afford good food and veterinary treatment for their dogs and live too far away from clinics that offer free animal health care.
In my vision, Homeless Awareness day would involve people from homeless charities coming around to different schools and collecting money as well as people who have been homeless before coming to do talks and answer students' questions about what it's like to live on the streets.
July 5, 2011 Casey Anthony was acquitted of all major charges against her in the death of her daughter Caylee Anthony that went missing in June 2008. Caylee Anthony was not found until December of 2008. Since the acquittal there have been jurors that are requesting large amounts of money for interviews or any information that they are willing to provide.
This was a tragic, heartbreaking case that should not be exploited for personal gain. The jurors were chosen to serve justice not make a quick buck.
I am writing about the proposals to build a new town called Cranbrook near where I live. If you do this, millions of animals, birds, insects and even people will lose their homes and livelihoods. I know that it is now far too late to stop the building, but it is not too late to reduce the plans to half the size. This is the flood plains that you are about to build on so your building work will only be destroyed if there is a flood, which there is a high risk of.
This is supposedly to reduce homelessness and to increase the number of people employed, but it will actually destroy more employment by destroying the farmers’ land and the forest where the forest rangers work. If we do need more business jobs, old buildings can be reconstructed and reused wherever possible. As for the homeless issue, I feel that the right way to deal with this would be to reuse old homes wherever possible and to reduce household costs.
Haven’t you ever taken the time to observe and try to understand the beautiful wildlife that live there? The wonders of nature should teach you why it is so important that you reduce the planned area to around half its size. Trees are vital for our survival as they produce life-giving oxygen as well as providing a home to the unique British wildlife.
Unless you at least reduce the planned area, you will never be forgiven by the environmentalists. There may be protests outside the Council houses, letters of hate and disgust, and maybe even economic boycotts of this county. I will not support the Council in any way until you reduce the plans and unless you do so, I for one will never forgive you".
This was how my letter to the Devon County Council read. Unless I get enough signatures here, beautiful innocent wild animals will die.
9. Save the animals and the people!
Picture a beautiful, relaxing wildife habitat which provides a home for millions of animals and birds. Imagine that the same place hosts hundreds of oxygen-producing trees. Imagine that the place also provides a home and livelihood for at least a few farmers and other workers.
Now imagine bulldozers hurtling in and ripping up the trees, running over innocent animals and maybe even injuring one or two children. This is what almost certainly will happen and the Council want to call the new town "Cranbrook". They say that this for "economical reasons". But the fact is that it will do far more bad than good as the farmers will lose their livelihoods.
If any lower individual wanted to do this, they would be prosecuted by law, but the council are not in trouble for this. Why? Because they talk in posh language, they are high in power and may claim that they are "using resourceful land to build a new community for economical purposes" rather than saying that they are tearing down trees and destroying beautiful fields to build busy highways, shops, houses and leisure centres for their own evil money.
They say that it will provide employment, but this can sometimes be achieved by fixing and reusing old buildings. They also say that it will create more homes and prevent homelessness. The right way to prevent homelessness would be to fix and reuse old homes, lower household costs and fund homeless charities such as Shelter and the Salvation Army.
How would YOU like to lose your home and/or livelihood?
10. Innocent animals have died and so have people...
Chevron may well be cheap and efficient, and they may well be your favourite company, but they have been responsible for one of the biggest causes of death, loss and health problems in the Amazon Rainforest; their own mess!
They have caused so much mess that animals and people, including children, have been forced to drink filthy, toxic water that was once safe. They have poisoned innocent animals that then die slowly and painfully. This also pollutes the people's food sources making them even more at risk.
Children have probably been orphaned and have certainly siblings and family members due to Chevron's mess, which was probably accidental.
!!!NOW CHEVRON HAVE VOWED NEVER TO CLEAN UP THEIR MESS!!!
The mess will exist for longer and even more innocent lives will be lost.
11. Reduce damage to wildlife in Devon
Picture a beautiful scene of nature and fields providing a home to millions of animals and birds. Imagine that this is also a home and livelihood for farmers and provides jobs for many other people too. There is such a place near where I live and now the Council wish to build a town here called Cranbrook.
Unless I get enough signatures here, they will be building to their original plans, and destroying the homes, jobs and livelihoods of both wildlife and people with bulldozers. While it is far too late to stop the building altogether, it is not too late for the Council to reduce their plans to build here. This would also be dangerous since they plan to build homes and other buildings there on the flood plains.
They say that this is necessary to reduce homelessness and to create jobs, but this is untrue because homelessness can be reduced by turning suitable old buildings into houses and work buildings, as well as reducing the housing costs. How would you like to be a wild animal and have your home destroyed for "economic reasons"?
12. Save the rainforest and the people!
Chevron a world company which resulted in an oilspill in the Amazon rainforest, which killed thousands possibly millions of animals and people living in the rainforest.
They also caused sorrow to and orphaned thousands more. Now they have vowed never to clean up their toxic mess. This is their mess and they should clean it up before any more lives are lost.
13. Do More To End Homelessness in the UK
I am appalled at the number of homeless people on the street and I am also appalled by the prejudice that these people face every day.
Things NEED to change for the better.

We need help letting people know and to help in some way. Please share this.
16. Stop high Wages in Football
Footballers are people who think they are untouchable but in truth they need to wake up and realise that they aren't and there are other people in the world who deserve the money or at least a piece of that money, and with your help we can get FIFA to cap the wages and stop them getting absurd amounts of money.
17. Stop National Persecution through rising costs due to Bank Mislending and poor Government regulation
To date the current Government has raised petrol prices, increase the cost of living for everyone, increased VAT during the hardest economical times for its people in decades, Stood by and allowed energy companies to have free reign over their unjustifiable prices, benefited illegally from expenses and have never been brought to justice and continue to expect the hard working people of Britain to accept the terms and bail them out.
Banks, Petrol companies, Energy companies all register mass profit - why are they not being held accountable and we are? It cannot be ignored any more as soon this country's people will have no homes, no rights and no money as the greed of these establishments knows no bounds,
18. Stop Making Residents Pay for Money Grabbing Barnet Council's Mistakes!
Barnet Council deposited £27.4 million in Glitnir and Landsbanki banks between November 2006 and September 2007 which may never be recovered. A project to replace a railway bridge in Colindale had also run almost two times over budget.
The replacement of two 19th century bridges on Aerodrome Road was estimated to cost £12 million, but Barnet Council papers reveal that the cost climbed to more than £23 million. A report claimed, " the estimate proved grossly inadequate". In 2008, Catalyst, which operates daycare centres and homes for elderly residents, wanted an estimated £8.672 million after making massive losses on its £9m a year contract with the authority. Total about £43 million lost.
No-one seemed particularly accountable and no-one appeared to be blamed. Coincidently, in 2008/9, Barnet Council spent around £2 million refurbishing their offices. This is not "Government cutbacks". This is mismanagement of public funds. Barnet residents are being penalised for the Council's mistakes and excessive pay-offs and bonus schemes. We have lost our Town Hall and Registry Office and now the Library and Museum are under threat.
The planned 100% increase in parking and permit charges at a time of recession is not only an insult to residents and people who work, shop or visit Barnet, it's also an example of what Barnet Council is prepared to do to make US repay it's £43 million debt..TO US!!! We have to make them accountable for their ineptitude.
I can't get a job because...I'm 12. I want to upgrade some parts of my PC. I have no income for myself whatsoever. How many people are in my shoes? Not many? You'll be surprised...
20. Make The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happen
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are the two best fighters of this current generation. Floyd has beaten every fighter he's fought and Pacquiao has beaten almost everyone.
They tried to negotiate a fight but it fell through due to negotiations over blood testing. There is no fight in boxing currently that will mean more to the sport or that people want to see than this one. It has to happen.
21. Billionaire War: bring economic power to the People throughout the world
The Federal Reserve Act violates the constitution and has established a European economic model that amounts to nothing less than taxation without representation.
Money should be created without interest, debt, or usury attached.
If interest in not charged for the mere creation of money, then there is no need for Federal income taxes
Stop disbursing newly created money to banks. Put purchasing power back into the hands of the People by equally [one amount for those under 18, another amount for those over 18] disbursing newly created money directly to United States citizens... Make banks compete to use our money, not the other way around.
Establish and enforce Net Worth Limits to prevent resource hoarding and limit greed.
22. Legalize It
Legalization of marijuana should take place in the state of Florida reasons for this are many profits generated could help support education, roads and highways, and even help public funds for food stamps.
Statistics show 20% of all Americans smoke weed this shows there is money to be made the product could be taxed and sold where cigarettes are sold.
Facts show the following:
1. It is not addictive
2. It does not cause over dose
3. It is natural
4. Is much less harmful than ciggarettes
5.Has strong support
6. Many powerful and influential people in the U.S. have used it
7. It stave's off Alzheimer’s
8. Marijuana helps with: Stress Relief, Pain Relief, Meditation, Eating Disorders
9. Marijuana has been around since ancient times
10. Marijuana does NOT cause violent behavior
This should be plenty enough reasons to support my thoughts and I think many will agree.
23. Stop Progress Energy Increased Rates
Progress Energy has recently increased their bills causing people to pay twice their normal bills to pay for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Tampa, Florida. Nuclear power is very dangerous, and to place one in a populated area is indisputably reckless.
The cost of the plant is 17 billion dollars and Progress Energy currently serves 1.7 million people. This means that the price each household will pay (if split evenly) is 10,000 dollars. At the current rate, a little less that 8 percent (115.32 annually), this increase will be in effect for nearly 87 years unless more increases are to come to speed up the process. That's 87 years of these intense conditions, and in order to reduce the time, the payments must increase even more.
If you think it doesn't apply to you because you don't live in Florida think again. President Obama stated on February 16th "Investing in nuclear energy remains a necessary step" and "this is only the beginning." He plans to create nuclear power plants all over the US saying each one will create thousands of construction jobs with only 800 being permanent.
24. We Want The MS Society To Use Our Money To Fund CCSVI Research
I am confident that this could be a revolution for the research and diagnosis of multiple sclerosis ”— Dr. Paolo Zamboni.
If there is a possiblity that MS can be cured this procedure should be looked into. This experimental surgery Dr. Zamboni performed on his wife offers hope that MS, which afflicts 2.5 million people worldwide, can be cured and even largely prevented.
25. Better Film Tax Incentives for VA
There are currently 39 States that offer film incentives. Virginia is 39th on the list.
In order for film to thrive in VA, we need to offer better incentives to keep and encourage film-making in our state.
26. USA Recovery Act
What if all The citizens that risked their life savings bailing out the banks and auto industry, received a USA Recovery Dividend.
How much do you think your dividend would be if:
1. The citizens of the USA would have received a
check to stimulate the economy instead of the
banks and auto industry.
2. Each and Every Citizen Received a dividend
from the profits of risking are financial future.
* Keeping in mind that the Financial Institutions paid

27. Stop The Use Of Sweatshops Globally
The rise of sweatshops is at its highest with companies such as Nike, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Wal-Mart. Cancers and other hazards to workers in sweathshops located in China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Phillippines are exposed. 90% of women are workers of sweatshops.
250 million children ages 2-14 are sacrificing educational needs to work in sweatshops for multi-million dollar companies. Children and women are exposed to pesticide poisoning and hazardous chemicals in sweatshops.
Help us stop the use of sweatshops GLOBALLY.
28. Repeal the 1943 Current Payment Tax Act
Have you ever heard of the 1943 Current Payment Tax Act? Have you ever had taxes withheld from your paycheck? The 1943 Current Payment Tax Act (CPTA) is the law that allows our government to do that. With this law our government gets paid before we do! Prior to this law people paid their taxes once a year but the taxes due for the present year were paid the following year. For example the taxes someone owes for 2009 before this law was passed would be paid in 2010. Can you imagine what it would do for our economy if you put the money you owed for taxes in the bank and earned interest on it for a year?
The Current Payment Tax Act was passed for the benefit of our government. Automatic withholding was passed so that taxpayers would pay their taxes on time. It had been a plan of how our Treasury Department wanted our taxes to be collected ever since the Civil War. An automatic withholding system was also promoted as a way to help make the Federal income tax permanent. By 1943 the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the income tax had only been around for thirty years. The BIR, created in 1913 with the ratification of the XVI Amendment to our Constitution, opposed the plan for the automatic withholding of taxes.
What has happened to our government since the 1943 Current Payment Tax Act was passed? Our government has grown! Why has it grown? When a business has an unending flow of money it grows. The automatic withholding of taxes from our paychecks has created an unending flow of money to our government. No wonder our government has grown! How can we stop this? Your signing this petition will help. Please sign it today!
The petition for fans of us5.
30. Layla's Petition (Better Enforcement of Child Support)
Not enough action is being taken against dead beat parents who work under the table, jump from job to job, house to house in order to avoid paying child support.
They don't file taxes, don't keep their addresses current with the USPS and 'fly under the radar' as much as possible to avoid being help responsible for their own flesh and blood. It's time for it to stop.
