1. SUPPORT MALENY SUPA IGA RE-DEVELOPMENT
Rob and Samantha Outridge from Maleny Supa IGA lodged a development application with Sunshine Coast Regional Council on 28/06/2012. http://bit.ly/Qu5V9P
Only 1 letter of opposition was received. On the basis of this one (1) letter of opposition Council is suggesting changes that would make the entire redevelopment of Maleny Supa IGA unviable.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. If you would like to support the development application floor plan as it stands, please sign the petition below and share online. We need as many signatures as possible. Don’t be part of the silent majority.. we need YOUR support to be heard! Let Council know YOU support it, and have YOUR voice heard.
WHAT ARE THE CHANGES:
SMART THINKING – BASEMENT LEVEL - Using a common sense approach most storage areas and cold rooms will move to a new basement level underneath the store.
GOODBYE LOADING BAY FROM MAIN STREET - Loading Bay moves to the rear of the store, opening up more parking spaces on Maple Street.
NEW SHOP FITTINGS WHILE RETAINING MALENY CHARACTER. More floor space allows us to totally refresh the look of the store, including new shop fittings, refrigeration etc
WIDE RANGE – INCLUDING MORE LOCAL PRODUCE - More floor space = more local products & wider range of grocery items.
MORE CAR PARKS -Traffic flow, extra parking spots and the look and feel of the lower end of Maple Street is improved. I.e. new car parks, no loading bay and reversing trucks, reduction in noise levels, no commercial bin smells etc
JOBS - Immediate jobs in construction for locals and ongoing new jobs for staff in-store after development is completed.
Artists impressions are on display in front of the store and at this web address: http://www.malenyiga.com.au/about_store.php

2. 100% Australian Owned Companies in Coles and Woolworths
The average supermarket trolley contains 85% foreign owned and made. This results in around 100 million dollars a day lost to Australia heading to foreign corporate headquarters. In Japan 98% of products are owned by Japanese companies.
Around 85-90% of Australians want to support Australian companies and products but have trouble finding them in the supermarkets. This petition is to demand Coles and Woolworths support Australian companies as consumers want to buy 100% Australian owned so jobs and profits stay in Australia.
We want Coles and Woolworths to beat the Japanese level of 98% and aim for 100% Australian.
3. Hold Coles and Woolworths accountable
Did you know that 85% of the products in the average Australian grocery trolley are made by foreign owned companies.
This results in 100 million a day going outside Australia. By comparison,in Japan, 98% of goods in supermarkets are owned by Japanese organisations. We need to turn this around and copy the Japanese comparison.Lets go even better than the Japanese lets aim for 100%.
