Petition Tag - lat night transit

Have you ever tried to get home after 2am when the clubs let out in Downtown Vancouver? It's shocking how many people are left stranded trying to hail cabs for hours. Translink is the transportation authority for Metro Vancouver. They have a responsibility to get people home safe and provide better late night transit.

No one wants to drink and drive, yet the sky train which is our main source of public transit, shuts down at 1am! How can this be? The city doesn't shut down at 1am so why does the skytrain? There are not enough taxis or buses to get everyone home at that hour, so thousands of people are left stranded, walking the streets of Vancouver at 3am. It's not safe to have intoxicated people roaming the streets late at night, getting angry and frustrated because they can't get home. Its complete mayhem with people fighting over taxi's because they're all full.

This is a serious public safety issue that needs to be addressed. As a result of the lack of late night transit, people either avoid downtown or they don't go out to late night events which is bad for business or they take their cars and risk drinking and driving. It is not acceptable that Translink refuses to address this issue. If you agree sign the petition below.
