1. Let the heart of Borneo beat again!
The forest of Borneo it very quickly loosing its area just because of the too much dangerous economical demands of the governments of Indonesia and Malaysia.
They have started cutting the trees to give way to the palm tree plantations and the wildlife is suffering.
For many years the RSPCA has been a voice for animals and hundreds of dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly under its banner to save and re-home orphaned domestic pets and horses.
In recent years the organization has spent massive amounts of money on anti-farmer propaganda and other politically motivated activities that take away from the RSPCA's core mission.
The RSPCA is still accepting donations from the community and state government that are given on the basis that they will be spent on caring for orphaned domestic pets and not political lobbying.

5. Ban Live Export to Indonesia
Right now in northern Australia, ships are being readied to load thousands of cattle to be transported to Indonesia where they will be fattened in feedlots and sent to abattoirs for slaughter. Australia sends about 500,000 cattle there each year in a trade worth more than $300 million. Six million cattle have been sent to Indonesia since the trade began two decades ago, supplying a growing demand for beef.
Despite industry assurances that the welfare of cattle sent to Indonesia is "generally good", Four Corners reveals that many thousands of these animals die slow and hideous deaths. Four Corners goes into the abattoirs that the Australian meat industry does not want the public to see. The results will shock viewers and confront industry and government with the question: how much suffering must these animals endure for the sake of profit?
Following a report published January this year by industry and government, painting a positive picture of conditions in Indonesia, animal welfare campaigners took their own cameras into abattoirs to record the conditions for themselves. That footage reveals that Australian training of the slaughtermen in Indonesia has been grossly inadequate. Animals smash their heads repeatedly on concrete as they struggle against ropes, take minutes to die in agony after repeated often clumsy cuts to the throat. In some cases there is abject and horrifying cruelty - kicking, hitting, eye-gouging and tail-breaking - as workers try to force the cattle to go into the slaughter boxes installed by the Australian industry, with Australian Government support.
The program shows video footage taken by its own team and separately by animal welfare activists across a range of slaughterhouses. The Australian cattle industry insists its training programs in Indonesia are effective, what this footage shows is cattle being subjected to a range of horrifying acts of brutality, many the result of the workmen's inability to handle the cattle inside the processing plants. As one eye witness put it 'We'd assumed that because there were greater level of industry involvement in Indonesia, the treatment of livestock would've been better. But we couldn't have been more wrong.

6. Save the Sumatran Elephants
The Indonesians are ripping down elephants habitats giving
them no where to go so in search of food they eat the
crops on the farms and this is making the farmers very
upset. So they catch them and tie chains around their
ankles which is then tied to a tree. Each day these poor
creatures show signs of much distress like banging against
trees. There not being fed enough and are all skin and
bones many elephants die and most babies don't get to
their full age because of poor care and not having a mother
because of being killed by the farmers. Some elephants if
lucky will last 2-3 years most don't last 6 months.
7. Please SUPPORT SS501 to come to INDONESIA

10. West-Papua: Release of Filep Karma and Yusak Pakage
For peacefully raising a flag, Filep Karma and Yusak Pakage may spend the next decade or more in prison in Indonesia.
On December 1, 2004, some 200 people participated in a nonviolent ceremony outside Abepura in Papua Province during which the Morning Star flag, a symbol of Papuan independence, was raised in commemoration of the declaration of Papuan independence in 1962. The commemoration is celebrated annually by some Papuans. While approximately 200 people took part in the December 1 ceremony, hundreds more local people watched from the edge of the fields.
Indonesian police advanced on the crowd, firing shots and beating people with batons. At least four people were reportedly injured by bullets fired by the police, including two with wounds to the head. Police reportedly beat a human rights monitor from the Institute for Human Rights Study and Advocacy who was trying to photograph the police attack on the crowd. Outnumbered by the crowd, the police retreated temporarily until reinforcements arrived. They were then able to force an end to the ceremony.
Police arrested Filep Karma at the site of the ceremony, and reportedly beat and stomped on him during transport to the police station. A group of about 20 people were later arrested at the police station when they went to protest Mr. Karma’s arrest. This group was subsequently released, except for Yusak Pakage, who remained in detention with Filep Karma. The two men were later charged with rebellion for their role in leading and organizing the flag-raising event.
Supporters of independence for Papua Province have been among those jailed as prisoners of conscience in Indonesia. Simply attending a meeting at which the political status of Papua has been discussed can lead to one’s arrest.
In May 2005, a court sentenced Filep Karma to 15 years in prison and Yusak Pakage to 10 years on charges of treason for having "betrayed" Indonesia by flying the outlawed Papua flag.
While Amnesty International takes no position on the political status of any province of Indonesia, it believes that the right to freedom of expression includes the right to peacefully advocate independence or other political solutions and that these rights must be upheld.
Amnesty International considers Filep Karma and Yusak Pakage to be prisoners of conscience who have been detained purely for the peaceful and legitimate exercise of their right to freedom of expression. It calls on the government to free them and all other prisoners of conscience in Indonesia.

11. Stop Violence in the Name of Religion
Violence in the name of religion still persists. Just a few days before Christmas, in the Indonesian City of Bekasi, another Church was attacked on Dec 18th 2009 (Santo Albertus Church, Bekasi).
Our Government and officials are unable to curb such acts of violence, clearly for lack of the political will.
Need support from the Global Community to pressurize our Government through the Indonesian Embassies/Missions in your respective countries. Shalom Salaam Sadhu Shanti..

13. Don't Train Indonesia's Deadly Kopassus
The East Timor and Indonesia Action Network (ETAN) is opposed to U.S. training of Indonesia's notorious Special Forces (Kopassus). More than any other unit in the Indonesian military, Kopassus stands accused of the most egregious human rights violations.Journalist Allan Nairn has recently exposed Kopassus involvement in political murders in Aceh in 2009. Tell the Obama administration not to train Kopassus.
The history of Kopassus human rights violations, its criminality and its unaccountability before Indonesian courts extends back decades and includes human rights and other crimes in East Timor, Aceh, West Papua and elsewhere. The crimes of Kopassus are not only in the past. A Human Rights Watch report published last spring details ongoing Kopassus human right violations in West Papua.
In 2008, the Bush administration proposed to restart U.S. training of Kopassus. the State Department legal counsel reportedly ruled that the ban on training of military units with a history of involvement in human rights violations, known as the Leahy law, applies to Kopassus as a whole. This ruling should stand.
See the letter organized by ETAN and signed by more than 50 U.S. organizations - including School of Americas Watch, Pax Christi, Peace Action - opposing training for Kopassus

14. Meat Free Friday in Indonesia
Teks Bahasa Indonesia ada di bawah :
English :
Indonesia trails only the United States and China in greenhouse gas emissions! A study released by the World Bank and the British government -http://www.worldbank.org/indonesia - shows that Indonesia’s high ranking is primarily due to its high deforestation rate -- about 85 percent (2,563 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent [MtCO2e]) of its emissions (3,014 MtCO2e) result from fires and forest clearing. Emissions from energy, agriculture and waste amount to only 451 MtCO2e - http://news.mongabay.com/2007/0326-indonesia.html.
Indonesia is home to one of the most rich and biological diverse environment on the planet. It has the world’s highest marine diversity and second largest area of forest after the Amazon Basin. However, due to the impact that meat is having on the environment, not only is our nation in peril but our precious plant is also experiencing the effects of animal agriculture too. Thus it is critical that we reduce our consumption of this carbon intensive product as an effective solution to the climate change crisis. This petition calls for the government of Indonesia to take immediate action by adopting “Meat Free Friday” for every Friday, which is also a holy Moslem day and promote the many health and environmental benefits of the pure vegetarian (vegan) lifestyle to the general public.
ENDING WORLD HUNGER
If you want to stop 1 billion people from going hungry each day; If you want to stop the needless deaths taking place every 5 seconds due to starvation then a vegan lifestyle is the solution to solve these dyer diet driven situations due to the inefficient use of resources directed towards animal agriculture. Grain currently fed to livestock is enough to feed 2 billion people. According to a recent report by Compassion in World Farming, "crops that could be used to feed the hungry are instead being used to fatten animals raised for food." It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of edible animal flesh.
We call on everyone’s support in helping to urge the government of Indonesia and its citizens to adopt and promote a “Meat Free Friday”.
So please sign this petition and forward it to you friends and family.

Dr.James Hansen – Ahli Iklim Terkenal NASA
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3736884,00.html

16. Help reduce global warming
In the past 5 years the temperature has risen: it was colder than 2009 (now).
17. Stop Logging Indonesian Rainforest and Endangered Orangutan Habitat
A proposal for further forest clearing and destruction of over 33,600 ha of rainforest has recently been put forward by a joint venture company, Asia Pulp & Paper/Sinar Mas Group.
The Bukit Tigapuluh (“Thirty Hills”) ecosystem is located in Central Sumatra, Indonesia. This globally important ecosystem provides a safe haven for many species which are threatened by extinction or are extremely rare - including the critically endangered Sumatran orang-utan, tiger and elephant.
Over 100 orangutans have been released to date via the Bukit Tigapuluh Sumatran Orangutan Reintroduction Project – the only reintroduction site for this critically endangered species. It took scientists decades to discover how to successfully reintroduce critically endangered orangutans from captivity into the wild and it could take APP just months to destroy an important part of their new habitat
Between 1985 and 2007, Sumatra island lost 12 million hectares of natural forest, a 48 percent loss in 22 years. By 2007, the island had only 30 percent natural forest cover (around 13 million hectares).
The Indonesian Ministries of Forestry, Environment, Public Works and Interior, as well as the governors of all 10 Sumatran provinces, including Jambi, last year announced their collective commitment to protecting the areas of the island with “high conservation values.”
The natural forest slated for destruction by APP – Bukit Tigapuluh – is a prime example of the high conservation value areas that the governors promised to protect. If the APP proposal for pulp paper production is accepted is will destroy the forest home of many species, and clearing on the ground could start as soon as 2010
Many environmental NGOs and Government organisations work in the landscape (including WARSI, the Sumatran Tiger Conservation and Protection Foundation, Frankfurt Zoological Society, Zoological Society of London, WWF and the Australian Orangutan Project).
Several Australian Government and NGOs also financially support the landscape including the Australian Orangutan Project, Human Society International (Australia), Perth Zoo, Auckland Zoo, Adelaide Zoo, Australia Zoo, and Dream World. Hundreds of individual Australians also provide financial support for the Park’s protection through the Australian Orangutan Project’s Safe Guard Program.
The reason we are doing this petition is because we think that orangutans are beautiful mammals that should not be harmed.
What have they really done to make people harm them?
19. Save Lake Toba
20. Armin van Buuren goes to Indonesia
I would like to have a petition, so that Armin van Buuren, the Number 1 DJ in the world, would come to Indonesia.
21. Let Our Goverment School Students Learn
The learning of the Indonesian langauge and culture is of great importance to us in Australia. They are our neighbours, we can't ignore this issue.
The Australian Education Departments from all states do not allow travel for secondary school students to Indonesia due to a travel warning from DFAT. Private schools go. This is a another disadvantage for our state school students.
Travel possibilities for secondary students is the biggest motivator to learn a language. The study of Indonesian is being further marginalised to the detriment of students and their teachers.
22. Resolve the West Papuan Crisis
Little know it, but at least 100,000 Papuans (one sixth of the total population) have been killed during the occupation of the Indonesian Government since 1963. Many more have been "disappeared" or starved to death from forced relocation to inhospitable areas.
It's almost impossible to document the exact number of victims, since academics, human-rights defenders and journalists are targets themselves of intimidation, torture and murder.
This sickens me how the Australian Government will do nothing about this crisis, refusing to get involved while our neighbours are massacred by Indonesian Military and Police Personnel.
Help stop the genocide in West Papua and force the Australian Government to get its act together and support our brothers next door.
(Information obtained from 'Why the Indonesian occupation of West Papua constitutes genocide'
Submitted by KamReed on March 30, 2004, from WestPAN - http://www.westpapua.ca/?q=node/69. For further reading, this article gives insightful information on the Indonesian occupation of West Papua)
23. Say Yes to Orangutan Friendly Palm Oil
Presently in Borneo (Indonesia and Malaysia) and Sumatra the Orangutan population is down to around 69,000.
This may initially sound like a fairly large number, but when you discover that we are currently losing 50 Orangutans a week and that at the present rate of killing there will be none left by 2026, you then realise why the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have raised the alarm to an unprecedented level with a new report : "Last Stand of the Orangutan : A State of Emergency".
The reason for this panic and devastation unfortunately lies very close to home.....Palm Oil.
In your home right now there are likely to be a number of products that you use & consume everyday which contain Palm Oil from Borneo or Sumatra. To enable us to have these products millions of hectares of natural Rainforest are being destroyed to be replaced with Palm Oil Plantations.
These Rainforests are the homes of the Orangutans, but everyday more and more are being slaughtered with guns, machetes, wooden stakes and even set on fire so that multi-national Palm Oil companies can get richer quicker.
In some cases the babies of these Orangutans manage to escape, but unless rescued their fate is as heartbreaking as their parents. Orangutans share 96.4% of human genes and the helpless babies stay stuck to their mothers side for at least the first 5 years of their lives............ Just like our children.
24. End the Use of Child Soldiers
Children around the world serve in 75% of the world's armed conflicts. They are forced to commit atrocities towards people and often abused.
Update: January 21, 2007
CONVICTED drug trafficker Schapelle Corby has said Christmas was an unbearable time for her, but that she hoped to return home soon under a prisoner exchange deal.
Corby, 29, is serving a 20-year sentence in Indonesia's Kerobokan prison for smuggling 4.1 kilograms of cannabis into Bali. The Queenslander maintains her innocence.
In an article for New Idea, Corby laments her first Christmas alone. "I may wear make-up and I may look OK, but I'm not OK," she says. "The pain some days, especially around Christmas, is unbearable."
Just before Christmas, Corby and fellow Australian inmate Renae Lawrence had their sentences reduced by one month for good behaviour.
.............................................
Update: January 21, 2006
SCHAPELLE Corby's fate could lie with Indonesia's president after the country's highest court rejected her appeal against her drug smuggling conviction and reinstated her original 20-year jail term.
Indonesian Supreme Court Chief Judge Mansyur Kartayasa says:
"We reject the appeal from Corby and grant the prosecution application to cancel the high court verdict and uphold the Denpasar District Court verdict."
....................................................
UPDATE: October 12, 2005.
Corby to fight on after jail term is only cut by 5 years.
Lawyers for convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby have vowed to take her legal battle to Indonesia's highest court after a Bali appeal court cut only five years from her original 20-year jail term.
.....................................
Schapelle Corby has been detained in a Balinese prison and now awaits sentencing from a panel of judges on whether she will be committed to the death penalty, by a firing squad, for allegedly attempting to import four kilograms of cannibis into Indonesia.
It is disgusting and barbaric in this day and age that a 'death penalty by firing squad' law exists, and that an Australian citizen should be subject to it. This law is out-dated and inhumane, and considering that Convicted terrorist Abu Bakar Bashir has only been sentenced to two years and Six months jail (with the prospect of appeal) for his proven 'conspiracy' participation in the Bali bombings that killed 183 people, in the same country, it is inconsistent and absurd that another person should face the death penalty for allegedly smuggling cannabis into the country.
Furthermore, the Australian Government and airlines should be taking more responsibility for this incident in any case, since it is the fault of The Australian airlines/airport that the drugs even left Australia in the first place - which also leaves us to ponder on the security and possible internal corruption of staff working at Australian airports, in light of drug smuggling and terrorism.

Benny Wenda, Speaking from Police Custody in West Papua:
>>>>
I am not a thief, neither am I a criminal or am I a separatist leader. I am standing for my people, in the names of truth and democracy, defending the aspiration and wish of my people. I am not arrested with the charges below, but because I am defending my rights, the fundamental rights to live freely, to eat freely, to move freely, to express my opinion freely and to gather and have social assosiations freely in this world and in this era.
I am a political prisoner for my people and my country.

=====================
Benny Wenda, S.Sos, Chairperson and or Secretary-General of the Koteka Tribal Assembly (Dewan Musyawarah Adat Masyarakat Koteka - Demmak) was arrested on 08 June 2002, 01:30PM Papua Time (+9GMT) due to three charges:
1. He owns two passports from two countries (Indonesia and PNG);
2. He organised the attack on Bloody Abepura 6-7 December 2000.
3. He was organising a new attacks on TNI and Police posts in West Papua.
All charges were exposed only some hours after arrest. In other words, the charges were given BEFORE proper and just legal proceedings. Charges have no legal bases.
We want to tell the Indonesian police and army that Indonesian does not promote and respect legal supremacy. That legal systems here are not working. That Benny should be released until his arrest is proven to be legally justified.

Background info:
Arbitrary arrests and or charges before legal proceedings are the culture of the military and police in Indonesia. They do not respect and even they do not trust the legal systems they themselves established.
The occupation of Indonesia itself is illegal. Consequently, all state-terrorism acts in West Papua since 1963 have been violationg human rights.
We want your help to free Benny Wenda.
Yours sincerely,
Sem Karoba

International Spokesperson AMP for Demmak
