1. Salary Reform for Elected Leaders
Do you know what federal politicians and cabinet members actually earn every year?
Here is a breakdown:
• Congress members (Representatives and Senators): $174,000;
• Senate and House Majority/Minority Leaders: $193,400;
• Cabinet members: $199,700;
• Speaker of the House: $223,500;
• Vice President: $230,700;
• President: $400,000.
When you look at all of the problems facing the world today--environmental exploitation, animal cruelty, hunger, poverty, greed, war, and many more--the fundamental problem can be seen as a fragmented mindset, one which perceives everything else as something separate from the self.
In the words of noted quantum physicist Dr. Amit Goswami:
"The ultimate disease--the root disease--is the illusory thinking that we are separate from the Whole. To heal the disease is to realize that we are Whole, that the separation is but an illusion."
Thus, the goal of this petition is to heal the fragmented mentality through promoting an ethical system based on the most fundamental, universal, unifying belief in the world: that everything emanates from One, Supremely Good and Beautiful Source, and, therefore, everything is essentially One.
This simple, universal belief has resounding ethical implications (e.g. we should treat all things with love, compassion, and respect), healing the world on a fundamental level.
This belief is so universal and so powerful, it is high time it receives its due honor and support.
So, please, take a stand with us and declare: We all are One!
3. We Should Have Options - Bring Back Go Transit Monthly Passes
In January 2013 GO transit stopped issuing Monthly Passes and will only accept PRESTO cards or Cash. Recently the price of a ticket paid by cash is $9.20 from Oshawa to Union Stn. PRESTO cards are card you tap on and off thanks to technology, but i'm sure as everyone has noticed technology does have glitches at time.
If you are heading to work, and you tap on... what happens if your card doesn't work, or you unintentionally tap on twice, or you tap on and think it worked but when the time comes to tap your card on the train to make sure you paid and your card doesn't work? you will be stuck with a ticket making you pay even more. Monthly passes were expensive but we should still have the option... we have the RIGHT to have the option because the amount of money GO transit makes off of us is plenty to keep monthly passes available.
If you go to Union Stn in Toronto you will notice a billboard of some sorts across fro track number 4 of what Union Station will look like.. It looks like our hard earned dollars are going towards stuff to make THEM better but not us at all. WE HAVE RIGHTS - WE SHOULD HAVE OPTIONS especially if we are using our money to pay for their renovations...
4. Reform the ANC (Animal Farm Pigs?)
The South African Government (ANC) are like the pigs on George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’. They use the police to brutally enforce the regimes ideals upon the masses. Even shooting mine workers to drive them back to work.
When they needed the people to fight and stand up against the old apartheid government they made elaborate promises of equality and freedom, drawing up a whole new constitution to protect human rights. "All animals are equal".
But once in power they started doing exactly what they accused the old regime of doing. They are corrupt and they side with the wealthy and the bankers. They build statues of themselves but squeeze the poor 'work-horses and sheep' harder and harder.
I see a direct parallel between them and the pigs on animal farm.
5. No more hefty payrises and pensions for polititians
For far too long now, our political members have been giving themselves EXTREME and UNJUSTIFIED payrises every year while the rest of Australians suffer undignified financial losses in all sectors.
Nor do they need the pension on top of their superannuation payout.
This is pure greed and nothing more.
This petition supports a documentary film that exposes corruption and outdated rules of law that are still being used by our Family Courts.
The film involves a maternal family, and focuses in on grandparents that are raising their grandchildren. The need for change and the way this court conducts business is stuck in the last century.
Today's technology and a close knit club of court officials, including judges, lawyers, and court appointed personnel is totally one-sided and in the control of these power-crazed individuals. They answer to no one, and are protected by immunity laws that must be eliminated.
The hope is to alert the public, and protect the interest of future victims that may find themselves facing what this film describes as a "Lynch" mob attitude towards a chosen victim of the system.
Based on actual events and filmed by documentary filmmaker that is also an eye witness to the facts will astound not only the parents, grandparents and caregivers of young children, but will shine a light on something that can and should be the established way of watching the so-called watchers of our "Justice System". There is an answer, and together we can enlighten the officials in Washington how they can help enforce a new set of rules that can only benefit society by investigating the facts being presented.
7. Stop the self-serving Greed of Congress
The United States Congress has proven itself to be self-serving by voting itself:
1) A Lifetime Pension;
2) A Lifetime Free Healthcare Plan.
8. Say No to Walmart in Staten Island and all of NYC
http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/77/walmart.html?page=0%2C0
Walmart will kill businesses in Staten Island, will make no competition and will fight every person trying to start a union to help working conditions they are used to abusing. When all it's competition is killed, everything will be made outside the US and people will be forced to buy what they sell.
So a few jobs created with horrible wages will actually kill thousands of job. Please read the link above and watch the documentary, Wal-Mart The High Cost of Low Price.
9. Consult the community before Tidemill Primary School is converted into an Academy
It is proposed that Tidemill Primary School, Deptford, London is converted into an Academy. To consult with and inform parents, it has been suggested that over the summer holiday a random selection of 5 parents from each year followed by a one hour meeting by the Board of Governors is adequate.
This petition is for a full and unbiased consultation with all parents and the local community before this important and far reaching change is pushed through.
10. Bring back ORANGE drink at McDonalds
When current inventories of ORANGE drink are finished it will be replaced by COKE ZERO. Whether McDonalds understands this or not ORANGE drink is a vital part of their menu. Many customers will be forced to consume brand name products with little or no appeal, including their biggest customers being children.
We feel that McDonalds has forgotten their core values and has pushed customer satisfaction to the side. ORANGE drink cannot be replaced and must be returned to the menu.
Please sign and lets remind McDonalds how important ORANGE is to us and to them.
11. Continue to Support all People and Care for the Mentally Ill
We have nothing to fear but fear itself, the words of President Roosevelt still outshine those of cowards and ignorant people such as the person or persons who penned the petition --
Stop Hermosa Beach from Becoming a Haven to the Homeless posted on March 06, 2009.
In the petition, the author(s) claims homeless people being drug users is a reason to enact laws to discriminate against the poor.
This is a comment from a person with no financial intelligence. The speculation that homeless people are drug users is mere fear motivated speculation.
Unlikely to be true since illegal drugs or legal drugs are produced by business minded people and organizations like pharmaceticul companies and so called drug lords. This interest in profit leads them to court customers of an income over $1200 every four months (my own income of late). The more likely consumers of these products are the homeowners in the community, and if people are to be removed from the community for being drug users, the city should survey all individuals for taking viagra, cialis, anti-depressants, cocaine, heroine, alcohol, and designer marijuana regardless of how much they spend on sandals, volleyballs, or homes.
Being homeless exposes you to the ignorance and inexperience of police forces and the most ignorant I have met were not in Hermosa, but Palo Alto, and Redondo, where I was threatened by a police officer until I allowed him to search my car. He said he did not believe in the 4th amendment. A pleasant thought, law enforcers who act according to their interpretations of the constitution. Keeping the low level of intelligence that most law enforcers have and the narrow life experience of the people that our country recruits, homeless people, often, the prey of choice for the ignorant, tend to avoid giving any excuse to police officers, also known as people with guns, to suspect them of any illegal behavior. This is an alternative response to terror than the Bush administrations.
These two reasons, a homeless persons exposure to gun toting police and their poverty, narrow the likelihood that any of them use half as many drugs as the homeowners in the community, and those that do are probably in need of time indoors for readjustment to that lifestyle, charity, kindness, and counseling.
So why did the author suggest this possibility? Either ignorance, fear or profit motive. I have never seen so many people so easily threatened by appearances. I have long hair and a beard and those two choices grant me power to silence most people on the sidewalks and streets of Hermosa Beach. I also have a sense of humor which gives me power to make those same people laugh and this is what I prefer.
Lastly, this is for the sake of the hermosa beach community, an ignorant public is easy to endanger with mind control. Don't except my opinions or those of the other person. Educate yourself, meet a homeless person, meet twenty. Inquire about their interests, passions, upbringing. Go home and think about who you know best in your life and how long it took you to know that person, then, go and meet the homeless person or hopefully by now you see her or him, young or old as a person with a name. Find a common interest and exploit it. Now you have a friend, and who needs greed when you have friends, right?
A person may be incurably psychotic and yet retain the dignity of a human being. Victor Frankl wrote this after his time as a detainee in a German concentration camp. It seems absurd to exclude the possibility for those not from Hermosa Beach or without six figure incomes.
Or if you prefer ABBA, take a chance on me. And travel outside your neighborhood, please!!!
The awful daring of a moment's surrender... no age of prudence can ever retract -- T.S. Eliot Be daring people of Hermosa Beach and remain kind (I met a lot of great people while I was there!).
It is not a surprise to any American that keeps up with the news that the financial crisis we are now experiencing was coming for a long, long time and now that it's here, Congress is being asked by Treasury Secretary Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to pass a 700 Billion + bailout of the same companies that were complicit in the creation of the meltdown of the financial, banking and mortgage sectors without taking any measures to help middle America.
13. Renationalisation of essential utilites
Due to the state and profiteering of United Kingdom essential utility companies, their mismanagement and total disregard for their own customers.
14. Stop MSN's Greed
Over time, companies and groups have developed a taste in various forms. From the World Wildlife Fund to Hank's Auto Shop, everyone has a desire, and this desire has taken over MSN, it is called greed. They want money, and they're taking a formerly free service and throwing a price tag on it.
15. Amazon.com Sellers' Grievances
It appears that Amazon.com is headed for becoming a greed-based .com industry that is smashing down the sellers. We are forming this petition to make them aware of the following practices that they are currently doing on line.
1. Allowing "Lowest Price" to be attached to the lowest price. WE DO NOT WANT THAT ON THERE.
2. Allowing sellers to sell their books for 1 cent. There should be a minimum ammt. for each book in terms of asking price as most of us not all on here for a tax right off and cannot compete with those who want ALL the business.
3. For Amazon.com marketplace taking the first .99 cents plus 15 % plus part of the shipping money is greed-based. A lot of the books on Amazon are sold for under $10.00.
4. In terms of Z Shops we are paying almost $40.00 per month and we are not even getting the listings out of the data base within your system and onto the site. They are being listed as "listings pending" for long periods of time.
5. You are giving buyers not only free shipping but if they buy something for $50.00 in your kitchen department you give them $30.00 free. How can we compete with that.???
6. Now you merge with other bookseller companies and most of us on here have no idea of what you are doing....merging with Alibris and Abe.....What are we to think when our sales fall like this?????
7. We are not happy sellers right now. Why don't you ask us what would make us happy...we are your supporters...If you look at the discussion boards you can tell that we are not happy campers.....
Your Sellers .......
16. Stamp out the Corporate Greed of Time Warner Cable
Time Warner Cable is one of the nations largest high-speed bandwidth ISP's. For years and years they have offered broadband connections that many of us use on a daily basis. They have recently announced that they are planning on raising rates for heavy bandwidth users who will pay an additional monthly fee. This means a monthly bandwdith limit which end users are not able to monitor. We are supposed to put our trust into TWC to charge us what they feel is fair.
This is pretty much equal to 'Big Monopolistic Corporations make another money squeeze. No real competition allowed.'
Another show of greed.... Time Warner is not loosing money. They are diverse in many areas of telecommunications, TV, etc.... This is no different than lets say.... hmmm... Record labels creating anti copy-protection that denies a consumer from making "legal copies" for themselves in order to suck more money from our pockets. Yes, there is a thing called inflation.... Yes, companies need to raise prices to equal the overhead... But in this case and many others, they are just plain old greedy. Time Warner and other ISP's lure their customers with fixed rates and then they hijack them by raising prices knowing we will pay because there are few options. It's the ol' way of fisting the public for more and more money.
There is only one way to deal with greedy companies... What's the magic word you may ask? BOYCOTT!!!! It has worked before. If companies think they will loose a majority of their customer base, they will back away from "bad" pricing, marketing, and other business strategies.
Here is what I suggest:
1: spread the word that RR (Road Runner) will hike their prices. Make sure to clarify that it is not because of "illegal" activities, hell I can suck up bandwidth just playing online games. Point out that it can effect everyone, the day trader, the gamer, the average user, EVERYONE.....
Second: Encourage people to flood Time Warner with e-mail, phone calls, and other means expressing that such price hikes are simply unacceptable. This will only work if they receive complaints on a mass scale.
Third: If Time Warner continues with their future business model, then we all need to boycott them. This too must happen on a mass scale. Its up to "US" the users to put an end to ISP price gouging. If you don't, then you are only bitching sideways (someone who complains but never takes action).
Now, if that it is the case, (people only bitching sideways) Time Warner will continue to make everyone bend over and you can bet others will follow soon. So, lets all make a pact to declare WAR on AOL, Time Warner, and other ISP's who feel that sucking the consumer for every last penny is good business.
