Low income seniors need your help – take one minute and send an email – that’s all.

Thanks to the 2008 budget - the tax free savings account may help head off future problems.

But low income seniors still lose 25% their savings in addition to income taxes on RRSPs, is that fair?

If they hadn’t bought RRSPs they would not lose a quarter of their savings. The government has enticed them to buy RRSPs by offering a tax refund and then confiscates ¼ of that money when they withdraw it.

This “bait” and “trap” policy used by Canada on the most defenceless in our society is a shame!Low income workers buy an RRSP and get 25% tax refund. When they withdraw the RRSP they pay back the 25% taxes (so far that’s fair). That RRSP withdrawal is classed as ‘income’ on their tax return. The following year those low income seniors have their GIS reduced by 25 cents for every dollar of ‘income’ from their Guaranteed Income Supplement. (Guaranteed Income Supplement is assistance for the lowest income people over age 65 to help provide a minimum standard of living.) It shouldn’t be used to rob seniors of their meagre savings, especially when those who by-pass RRSPs are not trapped this way!

Doctors and research scientists are increasingly speaking out against animal testing. All animals are different, so they feel the results from animals can't be applied to humans, and it is dangerous for human patients if we try to do so.

In 1997 Labour came to power in the UK. One of their pre-election pledges was to hold an historic investigation into the medical relevance and safety for human patients of using animal experiments.

The medical relevance of animal testing has come under more doubt since then, but they have still refused to honour the pledge.

Among the developments in that time were:

§ 83% of doctors, in an independent poll, supported the idea of an independent evaluation.

§ A 2004 paper in the British Medical Journal concluded that "the contribution of animal studies to clinical medicine requires urgent formal evaluation."

§ Scientifically evaluated cell culture tests have been discovered to be 80-85% accurate: easily more accurate than animal testing.

§ Adverse drug reactions have been estimated to be our fourth leading cause of death: killing over 10,000 people a year in the UK and costing the NHS £466 million, according to medical journal studies. All drugs contributing to this have passed tests on animals.

An Early Day Motion raised by a concerned MP requesting such an inquiry attracted the support of hundreds of MPs across the parties and was among the 1% most popular EDMs. The MP consulted with doctor's group Europeans For Medical Progress (see www.curedisease.net) who actively supported the move.

Three Ashland City School Board Members have had email discussions about THEIR desires for the future of the Ashland City Schools.

They have disregarded the opinions of members of the community, refused to acknowledge the input of professional educators, and undermined the Superintendent and school staff whom was hired to manage the operations of the school district.

These three Ashland City School Board members have exploited and overstepped their role/authority as school board members.

They have knowingly violated the Ohio Open Meetings Act by having "back room discussions" through email.

The supporters of Kilmarnock Football Club who have signed this petition wish for the removal of the manager at Rugby Park, Jim Jefferies.

There have been polls on this issue run on unofficial fans' sites - all of which show overwhelmingly that the fans' wish the manager to leave.

The most recent polls gave the following results:

The overall results will be known towards the end of next week, however 52 supporters have been polled so far and the results at the moment are:

Many supporters felt that despite their personal views, the manager deserved support until the target of a top 6 place was no longer achievable. Now that Kilmarnock are unable to get into the Top 6 - most feel it is now time for him to leave - and feel the manager could leave with integrity intact if he were to do the decent thing and resign from his position. If this were not to happen within the next fortnight - the fans wish the club to take the appropriate action and relieve the manager of his duties at the club ASAP.

Discontent has been growing among the fans since the Christmas period, but the 3-1 defeat by Hearts in the Scottish Cup was the last straw for many.

The clubs own target of a top 6 place has now not been met for the past 2 seasons - this is simply not good enough. The fans realise that there are financial pressures put upon the management team and the club as a whole - which is constantly being cited as a reason for our poor run of results - but feel that the current position is unacceptable. Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hibernian all work with small squads like our own - mostly made up of young players - and they all have financial restrictions put upon them also - however all of these teams are sitting above us in the SPL - so having a small squad of young, inexperienced players is no longer a viable excuse - especially as this squad have largely been together now for the past 3 years.

The manager has been in charge now for three seasons and things seem to be getting gradually worse. We have an extremely talented young squad of players - but unfortunately the management team is not currently getting the best from them.

The following shows a list of where the club has finished in the Premier since 1997:

Jim Jefferies first full season in charge was 2002-03 - when we apparently "over-achieved" - despite having finished in the top 5 in 4 of the previous 5 seasons. Since then manager has totally changed the squad and it is now 'his' team - we have finished 10th last season and are currently sitting 8th - however on current form could quite easily finish 10th or 11th.

There are many reasons why we think this action needs to be undertaken straight away - however we have tried to keep this factual rather than resorting to too many personal opinions - as that would not give a true opinion of the full fan base.

Kilmarnock have lost support every year for the past five years. From an average of over 11,500 in 1998-99 to an average of under 7,000 now. The average attendances are only going in one direction at the moment and many fans feel that attendances will not rise until a change of manager is implemented. Many fans have openly stated they are unhappy with the current management team and will not return to Rugby Park at all until this changes - no matter how well the team are doing.

We have started this petition in order to show our feelings towards this situation in a peaceful manner - HOWEVER - if the fans' opinion is not taken seriously and a change of manager is not implemented very soon, a more organised approach in the form of protests before and after home matches shall be taken. Many fans are voting with their feet at the moment - and to ignore the club's most loyal customers is going to see the attendances slump to a new low not seen for over a decade.

With survival in the SPL looking likely and being in the 'bottom 6' - the fans feel as though there is very little left to play for this season but pride. Unfortunately 6 points from a possible 30 in our last 10 SPL matches is simply not good enough - and if this sort of form continues we may yet get dragged into the relegation dogfight - which is why the supporters feel a change must be made NOW. In our last 12 games - we have only achieved 2 wins and 1 draw - with 6 of the 12 matches being played at home. During these games we have only kept a clean sheet ONCE, and have failed to score in 6 of these games. In these 12 matches - we have conceded 21 goals and only scored 10 (3 of which were scored against dundee united - which was also the only game in which we kept a clean sheet - against the bottom side in the SPL).

Despite an email to Stephen Atkinson asking if/what the Government were going to do about providing free prescriptions for asthmatics (as they already do for a number of groups with life threatening illnesses), all I got in reply was a standard "You can buy a Pre-payment Certificate or apply for help with an HC11 form", neither of which are an option for a lot of people, often on low incomes, but earning too much to receive free prescriptions.

As can be seen from the figures provided by the Asthma Organisation, people are dying every day from asthma but still the Government does not seem to think this disease a priority.
Many people do not use their inhalers simply because of the cost, thus increasing the risk of hospitalisation. Though there are thousands of people suffering from this disease, surely the Government will save thousands of pounds of NHS money by preventing the attacks that lead to hospitalisation.

We, Kashmiri and Pakistani workers at Baltic star are experiencing racism and discrimination at the Boat which has been plying the rout between Stockholm and Mariehamn for the last 30 years. We are being super-exploited by the Boat management which has put us on a work scheme that is practically destroying our health irreversably. We are treated differently from Swedish workers at the Boat who have off duty between their schedules and who are also allowed pauses during working hours.
We are on a work scheme designed to make us work seven days a week, thirty days a month for three consecutive months without a pause. During this period, we are subjected to backbreaking menial jobs for 10.6 hours, working 5.3 hours without any pause. This is in violation of Swedish labour laws that stipulate that we are entitled to 15 minutes rest after every two hours of work (see attached press release).

We are appealing for urgent International help and solidarity. We are asking workers around the world, Trade Unions, political parties, anti-racist organisations, student and youth groups, activists, Internationalists and sympathisers to help us put pressure on the Baltic Boat management to follow Swedish and International labour laws and stop destroying our health through an impossible work routine. Our main demands are as follows:
A two week break after every two weeks of work like other Swedish workers.

The Official Court TV Club was a club where justice, court cases and other legal issues were supposed to be discussed among members. It was a community comprised of people worldwide who come together to discuss many issues and where friendships were formed and debates were the norm of the day.

However, this is no longer the case.

For many months, it has instead become a place where the moderator, CTV_Warhorse46, a paid CTV employee of The Official Court TV Club, deletes posts because someone does not care for a CTV anchor and says so; deletes posts because someone posts Clintoon instead of Clinton; and deletes posters because they believe in 1st amendment rights of Free Speech. It is a place where you can be sent to the corner if you even hint that Nancy Grace is not your favorite person or because a CTV anchor might become offended. Political figures may NOT be discussed in unflattering terms. It has become a place, not where you can discuss issues important to you or the community, but where what you have to say is censored and you are chastised.

It has become a CTV Anchor Fan Club.

Then it became even worse.

This week, after apparent years of posting photographs belonging to others, the moderator was actually caught red-handed by the actual owner of copyrighted photographs. When asked to remove the photographs, the moderator complied, only to later post a fraudulent email purportedly coming from the owner of the photographs. This was done purely to cover up her illegal activity. The photographer had to return yet again to let the members know she had not sent the fraudulent email and that the moderator did not have her permission to use her material.

Since then, dozens of posts have been deleted in order to hide what happened and other posters have been deleted as members. As of today, CTV had yet to see fit in removing CTV_Warhorse46, a CTV employee paid to be the moderator of The Official Court TV Club.

Do adults have to be monitored in such a way that they are nothing more than mindless robots or a group of sheep? Must they only post what is acceptable to a few? Is this how Court TV runs things? We certainly hope not. We need a moderator who is unbiased and fair. We need a moderator that can head off trouble before it happens. Bashing and flaming of posters should never be allowed, yet freedom to discuss our beliefs on any issue should be a right – one afforded to us by the Constitution.

We Demand the Resignation of CTV_Warhorse46 and the Club returned to it’s stated mission. A place to talk about crime and justice issues. A place to form friendships and exchange ideas on every subject important to us. A place to become “our community online” once again.

Keyboard System Activation is a feature that has been around for quite some time now that less-expensive motherboards have supported. For some reason, it has been left out by Abit in the motherboards of late.

I have owned a Abit KT7-Raid motherboard, a KT7A, and now a KG7 motherboard. None of the bios versions for these boards offerred the option to enable Keyboard activation. ICQ offers SMS though the web, icq, and email. (FOR FREE). The only gateway that China Mobile isn't supported by is the Email Gateway. The most important one, because with the email gateway we can use services like Yahoo!, Mobile and MSN Mobile, to have sports, news, and weather sent to us via SMS (email).

Hotmail is the largest free email provider in the world. Yet they offer the lowest amount of storage space per user out of all the free email providers. People using Hotmail are having their emails deleted constantly because of Hotmails excessively low storage limit.

Other free email providers have realised that over time people require more storage space to take care of their everyday needs. Yahoo offers 6Mb of email storage space, which triples Hotmail. Other providers offer up to 10Mb, but most offer 5Mb.

If any company can afford it, microsoft can, they have no excuse and need to be told.
