Petition Tag - character education

Heritage Community Services has provided character-based, abstinence education at no cost to thousands of students in Charleston County School District for over 10 years. Of those, 90% would recommend the program to a friend. A research study showed that participants reported initiating sexual activity at half the rate of similar non-program students a year after completing the Heritage program.

The Heritage program is supplemental and, as directed by the Charleston County School Board, principals decide if they would like for Heritage to serve their school.

On Monday, June 28, 2010, the Charleston County School Board will be voting to discontinue Heritage Community Services in its public schools.
