1. Animes no cinema brasileiro
2. Colorado Shooting Justice/ Challenge to Presidential Candidates
Our hearts have gone out to those affected in the wake of the recent tragedy in Colorado. We may know who committed the crime, but no reason will ever be justifiable. Time will pass, but the stolen lives of the victims can play a role in the future.
As is common with such horrific rampages, we cannot help but ponder what –if any- preventive actions could have been taken. The debate here is lively, with many believing this instance, and others like it, lack a pattern and thus cannot be prevented. The events may be random and relatively few in proportion to the safety we usually encounter in our daily lives, but these mass shootings are not a mere generational event, an unheard-of travesty. Fort Hood, Virginia Tech, and now Colorado are all examples of mass shootings that have occurred since the turn of the 21st century, and various others exist beside them, unfortunately.
As it stands currently, no limit exists on the amount of guns or ammunition available to our citizens. Does this mean we must accept the threat of individuals taking innocent lives whenever they should choose to? Every life is precious and should be protected as such.
Allowing weapons to repeatedly fall into the hands of dangerous individuals is certainly not something that should be tolerated. Our country would be wise to re-evaluate how citizens attain firearms, considering that it could save countless lives.
Gun control has provoked abundant controversy in the political realm. Many Americans feel defensive about altering gun control policies in fear that their second amendment right will be somehow inhibited. The second amendment gives each citizen of the USA the fundamental right to bear arms and this petition does not believe it should be tampered with. This petition proposes new procedures that will coincide with our constitution’s beliefs. Nevertheless, all Americans also share the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and a ruthless gunmen should not infringe on these in any way.
Anyone who possesses or has experience with firearms is aware of their power and the responsibility of their usage. A breathalyzer can keep an inebriated driver off the road and save a life. Maybe it has saved yours or someone you love. You never know. The same principle applies to wielding a weapon. Precautionary measures can stop unnecessary disasters, and the same relates to guns.
The heartbreaking injustice that occurred in Colorado cannot be undone, but it can rest as the foundation for safety in our further generations. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have both given their condolences, but not addressed future measures to be undertaken. This brings me to my proposition: I challenge 2012 Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney to discuss and introduce ideas on new policies in their campaigns that will provide greater security in firearm/ammunition distribution.
Any candidate can offer condolences; only an innovative leader can respond in a concerned and timely manner to satisfy his commitment to our country. It is simple to ask only one of the men to do so, but this incident is something each should address in the hopes of leading our nation.
3. Let Us Play
The University Challenge Society of the University of Dublin are seeking to convince Granada Studios to allow Trinity College to compete in the television gameshow 'University Challenge'. Trinity competed relatively successfully in this competition until about 30 years ago when interest for it lapsed.
In the last couple of years, interest has emerged once again and contact was made with Granada studios about admitting Trinity. This application was rejected on the basis that we are not a UK university, even though we were founded under Royal Charter and have competed in the past.
This year we want to have another crack at gaining entry and are thus asking for support to launch our "Let Us Play" campaign.
4. We are fans of MTV's Cara Maria
Do you love MTV's Cara Maria Sorbello? I certainly do. Between her unique personality, her awesome sense of humor, and her unmatched sex appeal who would blame you? Not to mention a natural athletic ability too earning herself the fastest 40 yard dash time (6.13) and most pull ups (6) doing more than 3x as many as the next closest female competitor (Laurel) and only one rep behind Pete in MTV's Fresh Meat 2.
Often called a "victim" or perceived as a weak competitor by critics but riddle me this haters: can someone who has finished 2nd in two of the last three Challenges, gone a combined 3-0 every time she's had to face a Gulag or Jungle, and has been a part of six team challenge victories (five with the gray team and one with team black) really be a "weak link"? I think not! Because even in the cases where she wasn't the best competitor she never quit or punked out during a challenge because it was "too high" or claimed to be a god only to literally have to be carried on his partner's back or sell her soul in order to gain favor in the house.
Even if you still think she's "weak" or a "victim" after all of these facts, what you can't deny is that Cara Maria gives 100% every single time she's out there and always provides the best commentary in her confessionals. Now that's just damn good tv!
5. Takeshi 2012
The Takeshi 2013 campaign has been set up in the hope of finally bringing about a brand new series of Takeshi's Castle on Challenge.
November 2012 marked the tenth anniversary of Takeshi's Castle on Challenge (UK). As you may know, the UK series ended production in 2003, with the final new episode airing on 1st January 2004. The same old episodes have been constantly repeated since.
We have planned out a nine episode series (see below), to hopefully show Challenge that a new series is possible. It would be made up of five original episodes, never before used, and four episodes comprising of games previously cut from the UK series.
If you're a fan of Takeshi's Castle and would like to finally see a new series, please take a minute to sign the petition. With enough support behind it we might finally be able to demonstrate to Challenge that a new series (of one of their most popular shows) would be hugely popular and that there's reason enough to commission it for the show's tenth anniversary in the UK.
6. Support Review to Jobseekers Allowance
While hard working and productive members of society are working multiple jobs and paying tax, some unscrupulous individuals are receiving huge sums of money in the form of Jobseekers Allowance and other benefits, even though they have no intention of finding work or are interested in supporting themselves.
The long term unemployed are spending money on luxuries, such as alcohol, cigarettes and receiving extravagant services, such as broadband Internet and expensive cable and satellite television packages. They even often travel aboard on luxury holidays, while their hardworking taxpaying neighbours often struggle to make ends meet.
It’s time for change! Make your voice count and let’s persuade the UK Government that enough is enough.
7. Celtic fans Petition to the SFA
Last season a new initative was started by the SFA in relation to introducing video evidence. If Gordon Smith and the SFA are serious in wanting to clean up the game in relation to simulation or career threatening challenges, as they have indeed indicated. Then they need to be consistent in their actions.
The Celtic supporters who have signed this petition are behind the SFA's initiative and call for Scottish Football’s governing body to act with clarity and consistently in order to keep the integrity of our game intact.
Climate change is upon us now. Some scientists are giving us ten years before we have made our survival on this planet quetionable. It is time we made real changes, real fast to ensure the survival of life on this planet.
That is why I am issuing a genuine challenge to all political parties and government in Australia to make changes within two years. We need to save ourselves and nuclear is not the way either.
9. Let Gamers Challenge Plays After Viewing Replays Of Them On Madden Games
Gamers have never been allowed to challenge after viewing replays on Madden football video games, and that needs to stop.
I mean, what good is challenging the call if you can't review it yourself?
10. Global Challenge Shimane Program
The Global Challenge Shimane Program carries out an important role in the educational exchange between the U.S. and Shimane.
I wish for this program to be recognized and granted more consideration from here on forward.
11. Sign Amendment in Red Lodge
Red Lodge is facing a new challenge. The City Council is debating whether to allow electronic signs in the Community Entrance zones by amending the existing sign code (which currently bans electronic signs). The potential consequences of such an amendment are troubling, as MANY civic groups will have the ability to put up electronic signs. In addition, businesses can and most likely will challenge the language of the amendment to get in on the action too.
All organizations currently have the ability to convey their messages through signage; however they are limited to non-electronic formats. If we want to avoid having Red Lodge look like King Avenue or Grand Avenue in Billings in a matter of years, this amendment needs to be opposed. It has already passed 4-3 on "first read" so the next City Council meeting is the last opportunity to change the Council's vote on this matter.
12. Partnership For Life: For a Generation without AIDS
We, the undersigned residents of Canada, petition Parliament to:
Lead the international community to increase access to affordable medicines for the world's poorest populations as our commitment to the universal right to health;
Triple Canada's contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and that these funds not be taken from existing commitments to international development assistance;
Challenge international financial institutions' current paractices demanding debt repayment and imposing structural adjustment austerity measures that limit people's capacity to ensure their own health and well-being.
