1. Keep Dolphin Tanks out of Armenia!
We appeal to the government of Armenia to immediately close down operations of the dolphinarium in Yerevan.
We collectively and vehemently oppose the capture and confinement of cetaceans for the purpose of public entertainment and/or dolphin assisted therapy.
2. The British Government to Play a More Active Role in the Reunification of Cyprus
The year 2008 marks forty-eight years since the birth of the Republic of Cyprus. For thirty-four of those years, the island and its people have been divided as a result of Turkey's invasion in 1974. The military aggression against Cyprus continues unabated to this date in the form of military occupation, forcible division, and violation of human rights, massive colonization, cultural destruction, property usurpation and ethnic segregation.
A member state of the United Nations and the European Union today, Cyprus continues to be victim of unabashed international aggression by Turkey, a member of the UN and aspiring member of the EU. This is an insult to international legal order and a constant threat to regional stability.
The horrifying and blood-curdling ramifications of this attack are constantly down-played by the UK and US governments, and ridiculed and mocked by Turkey and Turkish nationals.
A report by the European Commission of Human Rights of the Council of Europe, found Turkey guilty of gross violations of human rights in Cyprus throughout the invasion and subsequent occupation.
1. 37 percent of the Republic of Cyprus currently under occupation.
2. 200,000 Greek Cypriots – approximately on quarter of the total population were forcibly expelled from the occupied northern territories of the island where they constituted approximately 70 percent of the population. They are still prevented the right to return and reclaim their homes and properties. Turkish Cypriots who lived in the free areas were moved by the Turkish Cypriot leadership to the occupied area.
3. 1,474 missing persons, including hundreds of civilians are still missing. Turkey refuses to co-operate in ascertaining their fate, despite photographic evidence showing many missing persons captured by the Turkish military.
4. Approximately 500 Greek and Maronite Cypriots enclaved in their villages in the occupied area are still living under oppressive conditions under deprivation and intimidation.
5. At the end of 1974 20,000 enclaved people remained in the occupied area. Following intimidation and harrassment they were forced to abandon their homes by the illegal regime, becoming refugees.
6. 43,000 Turkish occupation soldiers, equipped with modern weaponry, supported by the Turkish air force and navy are illegally stationed in the occupied area.
7. 162,000 colonists from Turkey have been imported illegally to colonise the occupied area in order to alter the demographic structure of the island.
8. 58,000 Turkish Cypriots have emigrated from the occupied area since the Turkish invasion according to Turkish Cypriots sources because of the social, moral and economic decline prevalent there.
Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Markos Kyprianou had a two day visit to London this week, during which time he engaged in much discussion with David Milliband and Caroline Flint. The outcome of these talks were, as usual, vague and apparently ineffectual.

5. Protest the South Australian parliamentarians for passing a defamatory motion
South Australian Parliament's Legislative Council passed a motion on 25 March 2009 recognizing the so-called “Armenian Genocide” as “one of the greatest crimes against humanity”.
The motion, which is based on groundless and debatable Armenian allegations, while condemning the events of 1915 as “the genocide of the Armenians” also calls on the Australian federal parliament “to officially condemn the genocide of the Armenians”.
6. Recognise the Armenian Genocide!
The Armenian Genocide was the deliberate and systematic destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I. It was characterised by the use of massacres, and the use of deportations involving forced marches under conditions designed to lead to the death of the deportees, with the total number of Armenian deaths generally held to have been between one and 1 and 1.5 million.
Many countries, including Turkey and the UK have still not recognised the Genocide. This refusal to recognise such a calamity creates opportunities for similar events to take place without recognition by other countries.
The UK has not recognised the Genocide due to not wanting to damage trading relations with Turkey. It prompts the question: Does the UK and other non-recognising countries care more about trade relations or stopping ongoing injustice?
7. Against Falsification of Armenian History
For many decades the Turkish propaganda has been falsifying Armenian history. Just like the Pan-turkist ideologue and former Turkish secret service agent Esat Uras did in his book “The Armenians in History and the Armenian question.”
Esat Uras states:
«I REGARD IT AS NECESSARY, AND IMPORTANT ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE, TO POINT OUT THAT ARMENIA CANNOT BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN SIMPLE MEMORY BASED ON GEOGRAPHY, A REGION WITHOUT POLITICAL BOUNDARIES.»
The most shocking thing is that the Armenian Studies chairs of the universities in the United States have also become the vehicles for promoting the Turkish version of “Armenian History.” Today, the more than one million Armenian-Americans, who are caught up in their everyday work cannot even imagine that the Armenian Studies chairs in the US are busy in “decomposing” the Armenian national identity and promoting the False Armenological School which corrupts and distorts Armenian history and culture parallel to the Turkish design.
Armenian History is being falsified by the representatives of the Armenian Studies chairs in the United States.
For example,
1. Repeating the Turkish historians, Suny writes, that the Armenian-Turkish conflict was provoked by the Armenian nationalists in order to overtake Turkish Anatolia and the Turkish side simply reacted.
(“Nation-Making, Nation-Breaking: The End of the Ottoman Empire and the Armenian Community,” 1996, page 3).
2. Repeating the Turkish historians, Suny writes, that the Turkic Azeris are the direct descendants of the Caucasian Albanians and that the territory of Karabakh/Artsakh historically belongs to them.
(Ronald Grigor Suny, Looking Towards Ararat: Armenia in Modern History, Indiana University Press, 1993, p. 193).
In 1997, the representatives of the False Armenological School, published a two-volume book entitled The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times. This book was designed as an Armenian Studies textbook for the colleges and universities in the United States. This anti-scholastic, full of distortions, anti-Armenian collegial textbook unmasks the False Armenological School and their destructive agenda. This book opens a new rift between the new generation of Armenians in the Homeland and the Diaspora.
On December 19 of 2001, the faculty board of the Armenian History department of the Yerevan State University made a public declaration and strongly criticized the False Armenological School in US and their book, The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times by exposing it as unscientific, full of distortions, and anti-Armenian.

10. Stop abuses by the government of ARMENIA
The Government of President Kocharian has revealed its authoritarian and criminal nature, ordering regular Army and Special Forces to violently curb peaceful protest in streets of Yerevan.
The tensions started with the presidential election on Feb. 19, the fifth since Armenia gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. It pitted a political insider, the current prime minister and the close ally of the current President Robert Kocharyan, Serge Sargsyan, against Levon Ter-Petrossian, a prominent politician who was the country’s first elected president and who, according to unbiased and independent exit polls, has won the elections.
While Mr. Ter-Petrossian, put up a real opposition with an assertive campaign, the rest of the election conformed completely to the old Soviet standards; voting lists were artificially extended, votes were bought, voters intimidated, television coverage was embarrassingly skewed, big men in large cars bossed vote counters. As a result, the party in power stayed in power, with 52 percent of the vote.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which deployed about 350 observers, concluded that 16 percent of the count was “bad” or “very bad.” At one polling station, a quarter of all ballots were declared invalid. In another, all but one of 1,449 voters in a set of polling stations was for Mr. Sargsyan. Addressing the recommendations of international observers and popular protests on the results of the elections the State Election Authorities have conducted recount completely in accordance with orders received from the current authorities.
Since 20th of February the majority of people of Armenia, has been expressing its protest and revolt against the officially announced results of presidential elections by organizing peaceful gatherings, rallies, hunger strikes and non-stop demonstration in Yerevan. On 1st of March at 06:30 a.m. Special Forces violently dispersed several thousands of peaceful protesters on the Freedom Square of Yerevan. As eyewitnesses are reporting two protesters were killed by Special Forces, many of protesters were severely beaten; some opposition leaders were arrested and charged with irrelevant criminal cases. The leader of opposition, the main challenger for the Presidency Mr. Levon Ter-Petrossian, has been isolated by police forces and put under the house arrest.
On the same day about 250 000 thousands of protestors, including women, teenagers and elderly from different circles of the society, gathered on the square in front of French, Italian and Russian Embassies and the City Council. People were seeking the support of international democratic communities in their fight for justice. Regrouping later in response of offensive actions by police and military forces, demonstrates used buses as barricades. Some cars were set on fire. Lootings, which were reported by official sources and attributed to opposition, in fact were initiated by Governmental Special Forces, which is thoroughly documented by different eyewitnesses and reporters.
Around 22:00 the Special Forces and regular Army troops, which were deployed around the demonstration venue, attacked the people using tracer bullets and live cartridge, tear-gas, heavy military vehicles.
As the result of clashes 8 persons are reported dead by official structures. About 130 persons are injured and hospitalized. According to the information received from families the death toll is much higher. At the same time Authorities, in their attempt to hide the killing of two protesters during the seizure of Freedom Square, put their names in the list of people who were killed during the evening events. For hiding the real causes of death authorities are refusing to give bodies of victims to their families.
“Addressing” the violence initiated by the government the current President Mr. R. Kocharian has declared the State of Emergency in Yerevan and used this opportunity for the arrests and repressions against political opposition members, as well as for imposing restrictions on basic human rights and freedoms of the people of Armenia in a scale that reminds years of Joseph Stalin rule.
About 300 persons are already arrested; some relatives of Mr. Levon Ter-Petrossian, irrelevant to their occupation, are amongst them. All above mentioned is factually correct and can be easily proved.
11. Help the Armenian Protesters
Serj Sarkisian and Robert Kocharyan are doing their best to ruin a county that is our Home land Armenia.
The have faked the Presidential Elections in favor of Serj so he can be the next president following Robert.
But that is no way to run a country. The people have their rightd too and we need our freedom.
We are outraged at the assassination of Hrant Dink. Although our period of mourning and grievance for this great man has long passed, the wicked machine of intolerance, ignorance, and violence is still alive in Turkey, preventing progress on rights for Turkey’s minorities, and the resolution of the Armenian case.
This Turkish machine of denial has influence worldwide, as it is a 93 year old tried-and-tested promise to the rest of the world that Genocide can go unrecognized and unpunished on earth.
It is proof to other genocidal states that they need not be concerned with justice and the consequences of the genocide they are contemplating - because even a world that is well informed of its occurrence has not yet condemned the act.
