To The Planning Commission and City Council of Richmond, Virginia:

We the undersigned oppose the destruction of this tree.

To The Planning Commission and City Council of Richmond, Virginia:

The Live Oak tree on the triangle of Brook, Adams and Broad Street is in danger of destruction. The ostensible reason is for a statue of Maggie Walker to be erected. There are plans in existence for both this beloved tree and the proposed statue to share the site. There are no valid reasons for removing a living entity that has long provided visual beauty as well as shade from the hot sun.

The grandeur of the Maggie Walker statue will be forever tainted by the senseless killing of this rare and giving tree.

Miss Walker, one of Richmond's most devoted stewards of life, would surely not have endorsed this shameful act in her memory.

Please sign to stop this needless massacre. Your signature WILL make a difference.
