Parking in Rye, NY has become more of a problem every year. More and more people move here and there is no parking in the winter. Depending what section of Rye you live in, many houses or apartments are rentals. Many of which have no parking spaces or driveways.
Most house holds have more then one car per house hold now. Where I live there are 4 apartments and no driveway, a total of 9 cars for the building. Park sells permits. 1 per house hold, 6 to 7 spaces, on a first come first serve bases.
These are residential roads. Most of the time there is no snow and when there is, most of the time the roads are not cleaned. Tickets for parked cars from 3 am to 6 am have reached over $500.00 per car. Should we park in another town and walk home in the cold?
Residential streets should be permitted parking all year round.
