The letter that notifies tenants/shareholders that an A/C Metal Support beam for all window units is required by all tenants/shareholders was sent to "selected tenants". These "selected tenants" made recent complaints to SHA regarding damage to their units, which very well may be a result of retaliation.

The letter was sent out on 7/18/2016 requiring the installation of such beams by 7/25/2016 or be subject to fine of $25 per unit. As stated in the Residential Lease Agreement revised on 4/1/2013 there is no such requirement listed. Contradictory to the lease agreement, it is stated that "no altercations be made to the structure of the building, and any and all alterations will be charged to the tenant/shareholder."

Additionally, when altering and installing these required beams, it will put all residents and children at risk for exposure to lead based paint. SHA states that this requirement is in part with their insurance policy. Meanwhile, as referenced in the lease, any and all damages/injuries to anything and anyone are the responsibility of the tenant/shareholder, which is in conjunction with the requirement of all tenants/shareholders, in the Residential Lease Agreement that everyone must carry a policy with a minimum of $100,000 liability coverage.

Additionally this can/will put residents of SHA in danger as some of these support beams that are being required can/may have to be installed on 2nd and 3rd story floors.

We the tenants/shareholders find this requirement not only dangerous but immoral.

The following signatures are either against this new requirement and/or have a Window A/C unit not supported with a beam, and have not been notified, and agree it is not in my Residential Lease Agreement.
