Lacrosse is increasing in popularity in PA. And with the PIAA recently sanctioning the sport many schools in the area have formed High School teams. The West Shore School District has opted to not support this sport in the sports program.

This sport would add to or improve the following skills in a youth participating in the sport: discipline, endurance, agility, responsibility, and team work.

Our area has numerous students playing baseball. When these youths reach the High School age they risk not having a sport to participate in to continue to build their skills. The High School teams only accept so many students for each team, leaving the rest to pick another available sport or not do anything.

Student that are not participating in after school activities are at a higher risk to get involved in drugs, alcohol, or some other dangerous and troubling activity.

We the residents of the West Shore School District are asking the school board to offer Lacrosse as a High School Sport to add to the list of Spring sports and give students the opportunity to play this increasingly popular sport.

This sport is becoming so popular that colleges are even offering scholarships for it. This is an another opportunity for a student to get an advanced education.
