School District 2142 has decided to build a new school between Orr and Cook over 30+ miles away from Tower-Soudan making it to far away for our students and plan instead to send our 7-12 grades in Tower-Soudan to an exsisting remodeled school approx 25+ miles away on winding, icy, two-way roads in the coldest part of the state in Babbitt.
The Bottom line is Tower-Soudan has the only projected growth in the entire district by their own analysis not including an 8 millIon dollar ( already funded ) Harbor Renaissance Project giving Tower direct acces to downtown from the 4th Largest lake in Minnesota ( Lake Vermilion ), 150-300 new lake lots in Soudan, 150-300 residendial lots on the Bois-Forte Reservation ( attend Tower school ), a Possible new Lake Vermilion State Park projected to bring 400,000 visitors annually to Tower-Soudan, and the construction of Polymet Mining between Babbitt and Tower-Soudan.
We are being reasonable by simply asking for a new centrally located school for students 7 - 12 that serve students in Tower, Soudan, Babbitt, Embarrass and surrounding area.
We the undersigned voters of School District 2142 Located in St. Louis County Minnesota are requesting that the school board places a new (centrally) located school to serve the NE part of the district including Tower, Soudan, And Babbitt.
We will vote NO on ANY levy and or bond that doesnt include this option.
