For the past several months a committee of citizens has spent many hours revising our outdated 2003 Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan is available for your viewing in the Library, at the Town Offices and at the Town website: www.townofcapevincent.com. Comments are welcome on this petition, by e-mail (clif.schneider@gmail.com) and USPS mail (Comp Plan, C/o Town of Cape Vincent, 1964 NYS Rte 12E, Cape Vincent, NY 13618).
“The purpose of this Joint Comprehensive Plan is to promote opportunities for community growth while at the same time protecting the public health, safety, and the general welfare of the residents of the Town and Village of Cape Vincent. The Joint Plan seeks to articulate a community vision for the future of Cape Vincent.”
The joint plan will create the legal and technical foundation for its policies and procedures, identify the Town and Village’s eligibility for bonds, grants and other types of funding, set priorities for Town and Village officials, staff and volunteers, provide guidance for future planning and provide guidance to anyone interested in the Town and Village including current and prospective residents, property owners, businesses and organizations.
The Plan’s vision statement quotes “Cape Vincent is a small-town, rural community with unique scenic, historical and natural resources. We are committed to preserving these essential qualities that make it a desirable place to live, while seeking to improve the local economy by promoting compatible residential and small business growth.”
PLEASE JOIN CITIZENS OF Cape Vincent in thanking the committees who diligently worked for several months in completing a stellar updated “draft” comprehensive plan for the Village and Town of Cape Vincent to be presented to the Cape Vincent town Board at the end of June.
By showing your support we ask that you sign the petition. Your signature indicates to the committee that you give overall support to the plan. You may also include any suggested changes.
