I want to address a major issue that women of color face in the state of Florida concerning getting hired in the gaming industry. I'm writing a petition to bring to light the racism and racial profiling I faced and experienced myself and wanting to protect other women of minority not to have go thru what I experienced in Florida concerning these matters.

I started dealing in 1996 at the age of 22 in Louisiana I have over 15 years of casino work experience I am proficient in blackjack, craps, let it ride, Caribbean stud, mini baccarat, 3 card poker, roulette, poker, and ultimate Texas holdem among other games. I got a job in 2006 with Sun Cruz Casino and I faced racism at every angle and every turn. Some of the racism I faces were astonishing and multiple occurrences: Once I dropped a slot machine box on my foot after reporting the problem to the managers not once did he ask me if I was ok, did I hurt myself, or did I fill out a report. The general manager’s only comment to me was how I know you hurt it here not asking me if I needed medical attention or sought medical attention. I was forced to leave work on Saturday night and the following week on Tuesday morning I told them that I had been forced out and others should have gone before me and was told they were keeping there best dealers.

Suncruz closed in 2009 with no warning and we were told we would have to reapply to get our jobs back I reapplied in September 2010 and did not receive a call back when others I worked with at the casino did. I was told that I had to fill out a resume about my job experience when others did not they claimed they are looking for experienced dealers when in fact they hired several people who have never had any experience dealing in a casino. I had told the human resource manager, who was a supervisor at Sun Cruz and who had no experience in the casino business when he got a job working at Sun Cruz that I knew that they were working and collecting and not reporting those earnings to the state, while the new boat was being renovated in Green Cove Springs, Fl. to even get an offer for an interview.

Take a look at this and tell me if this doesn’t sound like racism or discrimination

These casino businesses in Florida need to follow the law these business and the rules set by the U.S. Gov. that protects people from workplace discrimination in the United States. Under these laws, employers are prohibited from discriminating on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race or religion

The Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act of 1991
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

We, the undersigned people, request that the state of Florida regulate laws and makes sure these companies are being monitored and are following the rules set by the U.S. Gov. Citizens want gambling they are going to these Internet gambling business and poker rooms. Regulaing these businesses will create jobs and get people back to work. Encog Ric Scott to talk to the gaming office in other states even to Louisiana gaming industry. Church’s were against gaming and didn’t want the casino’s in the state because they said it would bring unsavory characters. When in fact crime did not rise drastically as they thought and the casino’s created jobs. Even if a person had a felony they still had an opportunity to get hired getting jobs that doesn’t involve money handling. All Florida has are statues but who is monotoring these business to make sure they are following these statues and the law. If they are following the SOX Act of 2002 and making them held accountable for theft and for violating these laws.

I worked in a land base casino and I know what rules these business must follow and they are NOT they are performing illegal record keeping among other shady things. Just because they are on water does not give them the right to violate these laws Louisina allows casino boats to be dockside and even sail Delaware mandatorily has state police in the casinoto make sure it's ran fair and no cheating is going on. That someone can walk in and ask to see the accounting books of these businesses. Someone needs to be in charge of these businesses here to make sure they are held accountable if they violate these laws. Making sure that these poker rooms are being run fair, to enforce bans of people cheating by working as a team to win pots and to monitor the money from the bad beat jackpots are used for its purpose.

Making sure that they are offering sign up classes to people to train people the correct way to deal, to many times I have gone to the poker room and the dealers are doing nothing to stop players from working together and cheating. Making sure they roll cameras back and catch and ban those players and watching dealers to make sure they are proficient in the games. I have complained about these issues with the poker room and received no reply people deserve to have a fair game and making sure they are following the rules.
