Households dumping used cooking grease down the drain causes property damage, damage to city sewage systems and the waste water treatment facility (tens of thousands of dollars a year). It also is harmful to the environment.
Used cooking grease is a cheap and environmentally friendly way to create alternative fuels.
We, the undersigned, call on the leaders of the City of Binghamton, Town of Union and Broome County, to create locations in the County so that people may properly dispose of their used cooking grease in order for it to be turned into biodiesel fuel, thus creating less expensive, alternative fuels that are safe, inexpensive and better for the environment.
