Aldermen have until June 15, 2015 to find $325,000 to match a grant that would pay for artwork that will give the Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook pedestrian bridge its face and its justification for existence.
When the Common Council tentatively approved its capital project list last week, it didn't include the match for a $325,000 grant received through Round 4 of the Regional Economic Development Council's consolidated funding application.
The grant is intended to pay for four artistic components on the bridge that were eliminated when construction bids came in higher than anticipated.
We, the undersigned, call on the elected Common Council members of the City of Amsterdam, New York to expend all efforts to appropriate and include $325,000.00 in the capital project list to earn the matching grant through the Regional Economic Development Council's consolidated funding application.
