West end firehouse has recently reactivated old air raid sirens. In the year 2014 there's no reason for this public obnoxious disturbance. In the past the sirens were vital part of summoning fire members to the the firehouse to deal with an emergency.
Today every volunteer and paid firefighter I know is summoned via paging systems which are purchased with our tax payers money. There are other systems like text messaging that every fire member can get on their cell phone.
Friday afternoon these air raid sirens went off about 4 p.m., West and fire house is located on Route 715 behind WaWa, I was in the car wash up past the high school at our local oasis carwash and was able to hear this peace disturbing siren inside the car wash inside my car!
We ask that the mayor and the chief of the fire department to disable the sirens which were just recently re-enabled!
