On the 2nd October 2010, my friend Samantha died from injuries sustained from a DUI crash. My friend was 23 years old and had her whole live ahead of her. Her killer was more than two times over the legal driving limit. Her killer was also an illegal immigrant that had already been deported from our country. Samantha spent six days in critical care before she passed away and also went through hours of surgery.
I would like a change in the law for DUI cases. The punishment needs to fit the crime.
I would also like people charged with murder when they kill innocent people in DUI cases. Why should people be charged with Manslaughter when they make the conscious decision to drink and drive.
They say my friend's murderer may only get 15 years in prison. I believe these people should get life imprisonment.
At the end of the day, these cases are NOT an accident and should not be seen as one. A LIFE FOR A LIFE.
"We, the undersigned, call on the President Of the United States to change the law for DUI cases. We also believe that the punishment should fit the crime.
We all feel that when somebody kills an innocent person because of drink driving, they should be given life in prison. Fifteen years is not enough and a manslaughter charge should not be allowed....... because murder is murder.
