Background (Preamble):
The laws banning the use and sale of Marijuana in this country have been based on nothing but lies, racism, hatred, religous beliefs, and big business monopolies.
We are moving into a new time period where the ways of the past need to be left behind. It all started with strong tensions being built with Mexican Americans in the early 1900's.
It was though a religious group called the Mormons who first instated the prohibition of Marijuana laws in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1915 when church doctrine was instantly put into state law in those days. In the east African American Jazz musicians were targeted for playing "Satanic" music fueld by this "Marijuana".
Mexican Americans and African Americans were also targeted for trying to snare white children with Marijuana. These were the "Gore file" statements when the Federal Bureau of Narcotics was established. Big business monopolies such as the timber industry saw hemp as a threat to their papaer productions and funded the war on Marijuana.
Newspaper companies invested in timber companies also helped fund the war. The facts in this case are that these laws were not based on facts and that thet were literally based on racism and hatred. Laws in our time need to be based on facts and facts alone.
The facts in this case are that Marijuana is notanymore harmful than alcohol or cigarettes and we should establish taxes on it the same way we do these things. Our economy would be better from the taxes and the money not spent on housing Marijuana related criminals. In these new times with our economy so low we need to start thinking about new ways to help our country and our fellow Americans instead of tryin to punish them for something that really makes no sense at all.
Marijuana also has many uses in the medical community and is sometime the only thing that really helps with cancer or glaucomo patients. Now help us in our fight and lets start a new era of understanding and truth. The facts are just a Google away under "Why is Marijuana illegal." Thank you for your support.

We, the undersigned, call on the lawmakers of America to lift the ban on the use and sale of Marijuana to issue in a new era of understanding and truth.
We understand that the laws banning Marijuana are not based on complete scientific facts and were instituted under the wrong conditions.
