1.3 million U.S. citizens serve our country every day; 800,000 more are on the reserves. During a government shutdown, our service members, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, do not receive their scheduled paycheck. They shouldn't be concerned when their next paycheck will arrive. The average military salary is $8,000 less than the median household income. During past government shutdowns, military families have had to resort to local food drives. If they can fight for us why can't we fight for them?
We, the undersigned, call for our government to take action on continuing to pay military members their scheduled amount during a government shutdown.
