Penalties too often gift a major championship to a team that didn't earn it. Or are not representative of the great team sport that is football.
So we propose that the team with the most wins in a tournament (club or international) entering the knockout phase of the competition holds the tie-breaking advantage. The next tie-breaker would be goals scored and then goal difference.
We feel that akin to what the away goals rule has done for world football this rule would do the same. It would make every game in the tournament count, and the team that entered the final with less wins would know from kickoff that they would have to go for the win which would lead to more attacking football, something we think every football fan wants.
And most importantly would reward the best team in every competition.
I demand that FIFA do away with penalties for all competitions and instead give a tie-breaking advantage to the team in the knockout phase of any competition (club or international) that enters with more wins to that point in the competition, be it round of 16, quarter final, semi final or final.
The second tie breaker would be to the team that had scored the most goals to that point in the competition and third to the team with better goal difference.
