Tammarron Neighborhood Traffic Control Hillsboro/Shadyview

Background (Preamble):
We the residents of Cascade Township and concerned neighbors of Tammarron would like the Kent County Road Commission to review and address the safety of the intersection of Hillsboro and Shadyview.
We believe that a number of factors have caused this intersection to require some type of additional traffic control.
First, this intersection is at the rise of a hill which creates difficulty in observing the traffic coming up the hill on Hillsboro.
Second, the hill causes drivers to accelerate; consequently, the drivers’ are typically accelerating as they approach the intersection.
Third, our neighborhood is a short-cut to Thornapple Elementary that many families take from neighborhoods off Cascade Road.
Fourth, there are several bus stops along Hillsboro, including one right at the intersection of Hillsboro and Shadyview.
Fifth, Hillsboro is a street which many of our residents utilize for regular walking and biking routes.

We believe that additional traffic calming intervention is necessary to both slow traffic on Hillsboro and make this intersection safe.
We support either speed bumps, stop signs, or other measures that have been proven to be a safe and effective means to control traffic.
