The last major legislative development that even came remotely close to educating the elderly was the Adult Education Act. That being said, technology is quickly evolving on a daily basis.
The elderly population need to keep up with these developments. The most cost effective way to do so is to organize a group of youthful volunteers to teach classes on the latest technology & sponsorships from companies who recycle technology like apple and others who agree to donate their refurbished products for this cause.
It is important for every individual in our society to utilize the new technologies that are rapidly being developed on a daily basis.
If the elderly have access to technology and know how to use it, they will be able to better serve themselves and others via being able to pay bills online, use iPods for music, participate in online polls, etc.
It will also bridge the gap between the younger generations today and the elderly population.
