On June 18th 2008, a lawsuit was launched against the Canadian Government. The government had failed to meet the legal requirements of the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act (KPIA) by missing critical deadlines and failing to uphold its legal duty to publish regulations.

The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement that has been ratified by 180 countries to date and sets targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Of the 38 industrialized nations with binding international targets, Canada is the only country that has indicated that it does not intend to meet its international obligations.

The Canadian Government should apologize to the rest of the countries, follow the Kyoto guidelines and the KPIA, and start supporting the Kyoto Protocol.

We, the undersigned, demand that the Canadian Government does the following:

1) Provide an apology to the rest of the countries that have signed the Kyoto Accord.

2) Follow the Kyoto guidelines and the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act (KPIA).

3) Start supporting the Kyoto Protocol once again.

4) Fulfill the promises made in the Kyoto Protocol.
