On October 22, 2015, 12-year-old Logan Lipton was killed while riding his bike to school on Coast Hwy.
In the aftermath of this tragedy, every member of City Council and the city's engineering staff have said the bike lanes on Coast Hwy are unsafe.
Plans to improve our infrastructure have been delayed and obstructed for years, but we cannot wait any longer.
We, the undersigned, support the Traffic Calming Pilot Program between Oceanside Blvd and Morse Street.
We urge the Council to support a lane reduction, as well as construction of a buffered bike lane and a mid-block crosswalk to provide safe passage while the formal process for Coast Hwy improvements continues uninterrupted.
