One of Lenin's first acts was to take over the media. Indeed, that is almost always the first action of all dictators. Don't let this happen here!
Bob Brown, the Leader of the Greens has been calling for an inquiry into the media in Australia because of the hacking controversy in Great Britain. He actually calls certain newspapers which hold the policies of his party to account the 'hate media'. The Labor government is also complaining that 'The Australian' is 'biased against it' and wants 'regime change'. Tellingly, they have no complaints about the newspapers and the ABC which support their minority Labor/Green government.
There is no evidence of any phone hacking in Australia and it is obvious that the Government would like to restrict the power of any media organization which criticises it.
We, the undersigned, oppose any extra restrictions on the freedom of the press in Australia such as requirements to obtain a license in order to own a newspaper or character tests for newspaper proprietors which can be manipulated by politicians.
