To our City Parks Department, Kroger, and its developer (Sandor/Mesa Sand Realty Nora LLC):
We, the users of the Monon Trail are upset by the devastation to the once green trail head on East 86th Street.
The undersigned wish to convey that:
(1) we want the trail restored so that it is shaded again and buffered from the lights, noise, and traffic at the new Kroger shopping center and gas station;
(2) the shopping center and gas station should not be able to use our trail as a drainage ditch for their parking lot with nothing received by the City in return;
(3) Kroger and its developer should not be restoring and maintaining our trail for their benefit - they should be paying Indy Parks to do the restoration and maintenance;
(4) Trail users should have input in what happens to the trail; and
(5) our trail should be a retreat from - not a promotion for – suburban strip centers, noise, and traffic.
