I think it is important that Lincoln as a city needs a revamp to gain interest in visitors from outside of the city. Empty shops which litter Sincil Street do in fact make Lincoln look deserted and untidy.
However there is other solutions to this which would help the city and its aim to become a better tourist attraction.
If rents were lower then more people would be able to excel and create businesses which then would be of interest to lots of people.
How will the local people of Lincoln benefit? What will happen to local traders? Will an established market place become extinct? How far will you have to travel to the next market?
Local people of Lincoln, university students, visitors of the city and tourists all use the market and become customers who we as stall holders and workers enjoy to talk to. There is a real atmosphere and a community spirit which you will not be able to get anywhere else.
This petition is to raise awareness and to share that not everyone is happy to sit back and let Lincoln Cornhill Market get taken away from people who need and use it most.
