The Snowy Valleys towns take advantage of four seasons, a beautiful environment, and a clean green lifestyle. They offer accommodation, food, boutique beer and local ciders to cyclists and tourists alike.
Last summer this region was hit hard by the Dunns Road Fire Emergency and is suffering economically. Our major forestry and horticulture industries will take years to recover.
One solution is to develop the Batlow to Tumut Rail Trail that has been in the pipeline for many years. There is funding available to support towns to recover from Black Summer & the Batlow to Tumut Rail Trail is an ideal project to achieve this goal.
We already have a feasibility study, and Snowy Valleys Council can deliver the project. They have already built the Rosewood to Tumbarumba Rail Trail that was an immediate economic success, and can be extended throughout the Snowy Valleys area and linking with Trails in other regions.

WE, the undersigned, respectfully request that the Batlow to Tumut Rail Trail be included as a major part of the economic recovery of Batlow and the Snowy Valleys following the devastating Dunns Road Fire Emergency of last summer.
Our major forestry and horticulture industries are going to take many years to become fully productive again, and the Rail Trail economy is already a proven success in our region, with the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail.
The proposed Batlow to Tumut Rail Trail will be unique in Australia because we have a 500 elevation difference between Batlow and Tumut with no undulations. This will appeal to cyclists and walkers of all abilities, attracting tourism to our region with associated sustainable business and employment opportunities.
