Support backyard gardens and local farm growers: Stop s510 (that would make it illegal to grow, sell, or trade anything homegrown).
The right to food is a basic human right, especially if you are willing to grow your own food. Backyard gardens have been a basic right in this country and to N.M for hundreds of years.
Studies have proved that eating fresh food is better on the environment and for our bodies, even our current First Lady Michelle Obama has a garden in her backyard.
S510 Would violate our Human Rights, to sell, trade, and grow our own homegrown food.
We the people of New Mexico are asking Governor Susana Martinez to protect and support the rights of New Mexicans to grow thier own food.
We ask that you take action and stop S510 which would make it illegal to grow, sell, or trade any homegrown food.
Please protect New Mexicans by passing a bill that would continue to allow New Mexicans to continue to grow, sell, and or trade, their home grown food.
Please allow us to continue our New Mexican tradition of buying local at farmers markets and growing our favorite green and red chile in our own back yards.
We ask that you would sign a bill holding to the 10th amendment of the Constitution which Limits the powers of the federal government to those delegated to it by the Constitution. We ask that you stand up for New Mexico's right to garden.
