A call to the New York State Assembly to join the New York State Senate in abolishing the nearly 33 cent State Gas Tax.

The Senate on May 7th, 2008 passed by a 46-15 margin to suspend the New York State Gasoline Tax, and it has been 33 days since the bill was passed.

The 2008 session of the New York State Legislature will end in two weeks, if this bill is not passed by the Asssembly there will be no action.

Since June 2007 Gas has gone from $3.10 to now $4 nationally, and has gone up 20 cents in just the past three weeks with an expected $5 average just in time for the Fourth of July as Oil is expected to hit nearly $150 a barrel by that time.

New Yorkers across this state have seen massive recent increases in Water, Electric, and Heating Bills. Also massive increases in the cost of food, cigarettes, health insurance, car insurance, tolls, bridges, buses, and subways with no end in sight.

New Yorkers especially urge Speaker Sheldon Silver and their 149 other Assembly members to take this up for a vote, and pass this much needed "Gas Tax Holiday".

Let's avoid the same fate of a no vote on "Congestion Pricing". Constitutents deserve to know where their representatives stand.

We the undersigned call on the New York State Assembly to join the New York State Senate in abolishing the nearly 33 cent State Gas Tax for this summer.
