Martin Marietta, a multi-billion dollar corporation that owns a quarry on Westgate Road, is trying to get land dangerously close to the Wyngate neighborhood rezoned for industrial use.
Blasting from the existing quarry across the street already causes homes to shake. We have made every effort to negotiate with the company but we could not reach agreement on key issues.
Though we disagree with the rezoning, we are committed to keeping this conversation professional and polite. Please support us and sign our petition to oppose the rezoning petition Z-10-12.
I oppose the rezoning petition Z-10-12, which will re-zone the area next to the Wyngate neighborhood.
This re-zoning will have several negative impacts, including to the environment and the health of Raleigh's citizens.
Further, this re-zoning petition is in direct opposition to the City of Raleigh's Comprehensive Plan, which is designed, in part, to protect citizens from spot rezoning.
