The Welsh Assembly via First Minister are looking into the buying of Cardiff Airport as it has been going in to decline for a number of years. The 2010 accounts quoted the net worth of Cardiff Airport Ltd to be £34,311,000 (calculated as Shareholders Funds minus Intangible Assets).

Accounts filed with Companies House show Cardiff International Airport Limited suffered a £319,000 loss in 2011, compared with a profit of just over £1 million in 2010.

The figures may represent plus then minus ... But will still be an amount that should not be considered.

We, the undersigned, call on The Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM of The Welsh Assembly to withdraw from buying Cardiff Airport.

With all cuts we are undergoing since coalition government came in power and that reflexs in the Welsh Assembly having less in the form of budgets - which filters down to councils having less for their budgets too.

It follows that we the undersigned do not think it is right to spend on Cardiff airport when the money could be better spent elsewhere.
