The most honourable citizens of our Country -- our Veterans -- deserve unconditional respect, unending gratitude and absolute support for the services they provide and have provided to our country.
The Royal Canadian Legion is a key source of support to our Veterans and acquire the bulk of their financial assistance through the Annual Poppy Campaign. they are currently being charged GST on its supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths which is money that could and should be going to our Vets.
A Private Members Bill (C480) has been introduced to the House to stop this charging of GST on the supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths and now is the time for Canadians to support the swift passage of that Bill and show our support for our Veterans.
PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA
We, the undersigned residents of Canada draw the attention of the Government to the following:
Whereas, the most honourable citizens of our Country -- our Veterans -- deserve unconditional respect, unending gratitude and support for the services they provided to our country; and
Whereas, the Royal Canadian Legion is a key source of support to our Veterans and acquire the bulk of their financial assistance through the Annual Poppy Campaign, and, are currently being charged GST on its supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths; and
Whereas, private members' Bill C-480 has been introduced to Parliament to amend the Exise Tax Act and exempt supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths from the GST, thus enabling those funds to be used for our Vets;
We, as residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to expeditiously support this Bill and have it passed into Law.
