Memento is a 2000 American neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan. The screenplay was written by Nolan based on his younger brother Jonathan Nolan's short story "Memento Mori".
It stars Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Joe Pantoliano. Memento is presented as two different sequences of scenes interspersed during the film: a series in black-and-white that is shown chronologically, and a series of color sequences shown in reverse order (simulating in the audience the mental state of the protagonist, who suffers from a anterograde amnesia). The two sequences "meet" at the end of the film, producing one complete and cohesive narrative.
Today, it was announced that AMBI Pictures will finance and produce a remake of Christopher Nolan's masterpiece, Memento. AMBI took ownership of “Memento” remake rights when the company acquired the Exclusive Media Group film library in September.
AMBI announced a new $200 million film fund last week. Monika Bacardi and Andrea Iervolino are anchor investors in the fund along with New York-based private equity firm Raven Capital Management, leading to greenlighting “Memento” as its newest feature production. Remaking memento is a bad idea because there is no need to remake this film. There's nothing to improve, it's greedy and really I don't think christopher nolan would agree with the idea.
I want Nolan, the cast and the producers to tell AMBI Pictures to pull the plug on the remake. The late great Gene Siskel said that most remakes aren't really necessary because Hollywood has this tendency to reboot films that really don't need improving. Why do hollywood want to remake old films? they can't be improve. Now we are getting remakes of dumbo, sister act, flatliners and even point break. POINT BREAK!?! YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! Why not create something original? Memento is one of the greatest films ever. If they start filming, it will be heartbreaking.
