A major company, the First Group, in the transport industry has since 2005 been transferring all its call-centre outlets to countries like India.
In this time of massive unemployment this activity should be stopped, in the interests of British Workers who are facing the prospect of unnecessary unemployment and insecurity.
Keeping jobs at home would benefit the British economy. People prefer to speak to Call-Centres based in the Uk, rather than India. I speak from experience as a ex-Call Centre operator on Traveline.
The British public were cringing at the thought of contacting National Rail Enquiries, because it was in India.
We the undersigned call on the British Government to oppose the relocating of British-based Call Centres to countries such as India.
