The demoliton of Saint Alphonsus in Victoria Mines has been decided after many attempts to keep it standing. The history of this church and the sacred lands in which it stands. It is the only Stone church of its kind on Cape Breton Island.
To The Attention of The Catholic Diocese of Antigonish of Prince St, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
We the undersigned are requesting that the demolition of St. Alphonsus Parish of Highway 28 in New Victoria Nova Scotia be postponed for one year from this day of___________________ for the purpose of claiming this land and building as a Historical Conservation and Monument of the Cape Breton Community in which it served since 1856.
We the undersigned are requesting opportunity to raise community efforts to renegotiate the sale of this land and building with the Diocese in every effort to maintain the heritage of this landmark.
