Hello everyone who signed this petition about tennis players grunting. I'm sorry about closing the petition, but it only had 8 signatures so its simply not enough to have anything done about it. I guess we will just have to put up with it or just don't watch the players that do the grunting. Thank you once again and wish you all the best for the future. Luke.
I have set up this petition after seeing an article in the Daily Mail on Thursday 28th June 2012, where tennis player Sabine Lisicki complained to the umpire about the grunting of her opponent Bojana Jovanovski during their 2nd round match at Wimbledon.
The criticism comes as the Women's Tennis Association have apparently reaffirmed plans to stop the grunting.
What annoys me is that this is only going to affect future players, not current players, as it has been determined by sports scientists that to alter their breathing techniques could hinder performance.
I am planning to close this petition and pass it onto the WTA, at the end of this years Wimbledon Championships so I hope to get a lot more signatures before then.
We call on the Women's Tennis Association to stop the grunting of all players, current and new.
This is to ask the WTA chairman and chief executive of WTA, Stacey Allaster - please consider the grunting of all players, current and new, to be stopped.
Thank you.
